Question about Toshiba 53H71 53 in. Rear Projection Television

Samsung SP42W4HPX I Have a Samsung rear projection tv,Picture is gone all green. we had a engineer out and he advise that the power Convergence board needs replacing and this item is no longer available.Can anyone advise where i can get this item or fix it as the tv is only 3 years old and i dont want to dump it.

The convergence wouldn't cause it to go all green. Green outlines yes but, not all green. Get a technician to look at it.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

Screen looks 3D
Colors don't line up
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed or warped.
TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture is not showing correctly. Color seems like it is going out. For example the color green does not show up as green.

THe picture is either yellowish green or yellowish orange. And has squiggly lines thru the picture. What needs replaced?

We own the PT51HX41 51 inch rear proj. We are getting a green and red glow around all pictures and wording. Are the bulbs gone or do they need to be adjusted...

I have a samsung rear projection progressive. the screen has gone like 3d red,green,blue. so i cleaned the inside blowing out the dust and now it won't switch on any idea

if it doesnt switch on at all you need to check fuses on power supply bord

You have either a bad convergence IC on the power supply/convergence board or the whole board is bad and needs to be replaced along with doing a Full Convergence Alignment by a very experienced tech.

Ur convergence is dead.The Convergence board must repair or replaced.Samsung/Akai use the same convergence board.Try website Tv repair world.com.Buy the whole board replaced it the best.

HI, this is typical convergence chip failure. you will need to replace the convergence board in this set asap. this will fix this issue you are experiencing.

convergence boards for a tv are kind of hard to come by after 3 years old where did u buy the tv? if from sears you can goto the site and look up the parts or contact the manufactuar directly on there site for a parts section. www.samsungparts.com i tried to look up your model number said it was invalid try that and good luck also convergence boards have a dcu on the board looks like a small motherboard and u might have to take the old one off and put it on the new one with solder GL hope it helps
