Question about KitchenAid 24 in. KUDP01DL Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Dishwasher repair My Kitchenaid dishwasher was not cleaning the top rack. I found water was not pumped to the upper wash arm because the food grinder came apart and seciment blocked the grinding plate. The impeller and washer had fallen off. How do I reassemble them, are these the only two parts that go on the shaft and what holds them on so it does not reoccurr?

Newbury, the screen should set in the grooves on the bottom. The chopper blade that fits on the shaft should have a small hub that fits over it. If you look on the housing cover (inlet protector) you will see a channel that slides over the end of the chopper blade shaft. This secures the chopper in place. Catriver.

Why is the upper sray arm is not working in kitchenaid model KUDR01TJ

There are 2 spray arms for the top rack. A small one on the dishwasher top and a bigger one attached to the bottom of the upper rack. Both get water feed from a flat tube that runs up the back wall of the dishwasher. Not much to the very top little arm--just check the spray holes for any food blockage and try to clean with a brush or tooth pick. The bigger arm on the bottom of the top rack gets its water feed through a hole about half way up the flat tube on the back wall. When you push the rack all the way in, it has to plug itself into that hole in the back wall. Check that plug in area and make sure nothing broke off that would keep it from making a good seal with the rack all the way in. All check all the holes in the spray arm for food blockages. On the very end of all spray arms is a main hole that is the drive hole to spin the spray arm. The water shoots out that hole and acts like a jet engine to push the arm around. Make sure those holes are clear.

Top rack not getting clean on Normal Cycle

Empty the dishwasher. Look at the 2 rotating plastic arms in it (like 2 bladed windmills) spin each one, do they move freely without hitting anything? If so remove the top one (its a press on fit) the look inside it with a torch, is there any debris or dirt inside it blocking it? Water has to flow inside it or it will not spin, and top rack gets no water spray.

Help! The dishes on the top rack of my kitchenaid dishwasher (KUDS01FKPA0) don't get clean. this problem started last year, and two different things may be happening. A guy replaced a part (a screen with a...

The part he replaced (chopper) is a common problem with this particular machine. If he has removed all residual food particles from the machine, and you have done your part to rinse them thoroughly before loading, I doubt you have the same issue. There could be other possibilities. One: The water inlet valve could be restricting, thereby not allowing the the proper amount of water into the machine. Two: The internal pump impellers may be worn, and not propelling the water upward enough to reach the top rack. Hope this lends a little insight.

Top (upper rack) of dishwasher does not wash. bottom does mediocre job

Make sure top rack is backed up into water entry in back of diswasher. Also check to make sure holes are not plugged in rotating wash arm. You may have to wash your dishwasher..take out the racks and look to see if they have food gunked up on them, if so wash them off in the sink. Take out the top rack clips and wash the rails inside the tub if they are dirty. You can use a squirt bottle with warm water. Do this after you run a rinse cycle so that dried food gunk is softer. There are alot of places in this machine for food to stick then resurface later. you may try also adding vinegar and baking soda to a rinse cycle and then leaving in it soak before restarting it.

My kitchenaid fills with water just fine and drains just fine; however when I run it it makes this horrible buzzing/grinding sound. Could it be the food grinder or the pump? How do I clear the grinder to...

You need to remove the lower spray arm, then the water volute that runs up the back needs to get disconnected by removing it from its rear clip (center of tub almost behind upper rack, next twist volute connector clockwise until you can pull the connector and upper supply volute tube apart. Remove connector from top of pump and then remove 5? torx screws to remove top of pump (filter plate) then look inside front section of pump sump area and locate two more torx screws to remove (on right) first sump inlet cover. The screw on the left is for the macerator (grinder assembly) cover. Pull straight up on the cover to expose the chopper assembly. Try not to disturb the chopper screen from it's location as it connects to the pump impellar shaft and is difficult to re-install. Clean any and all debris from the now open areas and re- assemble the pump.
Good luck!

The top rack does not get clean. There is a dirty

Most likely the "food grinder" screen is clogged, which limits the flow throught the pump, leaving thehigher dishes unwashed. It's flaw inthe design of whirlpool/kitchenaides. Not only does the screen clog but the teeth on the "grinder" wear down, the girneder does no grinding, and the food particles build up onthe screen, clogging the water flow. Open up the collector, pul out he choer/grinder and clean the screen. Check the teeth on it and if worn, repalce the chopper/grinder. If it happens again , then the choper/grinder driving mechanism is basd -- replace the pump/motor assembly.

Top rack of dish washer does not have enough water

Trouble shooting here... but the same pumb that circulates water... vents it.... So, if the vent valve is clogged with food debris, then you would not retain enough water to wash all the upper rack dishes...
I recommend inspecting the exhaust tube port of the pump (a selenoid is the operating device for that valve). Be sure that it is able to operate freely (close all the way. Otherwise, it is just the pump intake!! only choices...you have already eliminated the rest (GOOD JOB)

Upper two spray arms (Kitchenaid) are not rotating or spraying

I have had a similar problem. I found that I had to remove the spray arms and dislodge food waste that had gotten stuck in the nozzles. Whenever cleaning has been insufficient, this has always made things better. A shame that Kitcheaid didn't do a better job on their screens/grinder.
