The black screen you see is a closed captioning text box. you may be able to access the onscreeen menu from the front panel controls to shut off the captioning..If not , you may be able to obtain a universal replacement remote to access these features...If that does'nt work, then you will have to try to get an original remote
My parent's JVC did this as well. It took us a little while to solve it (and through searching for how to fix it, found this post).
Using the JVC's remote control, we pushed the C.C. (closed caption) button and cycled to the "OFF" setting. That fixed it. Using the TV's front panel setting did not fix the issue, we had to use the remote control.
Note: the "text" CC setting re-displays the black box.
do not take black box apart
the front screen will lift up but do this gently and if you take the frame off the screen make sure you do not allow to bend it is plexie GLASS and will BRAKE if you need to support it put a chair in front with a pillow for the screen to sit on....be slow take your time remember to blow out dust before cleaning miorror and projectors lens then blow out just before putting front screen back, then wipe the lens again last before putting dust cover back on the lower rear.
Hello...try to power off by the switch on front panel..instead of remote...then pwr up the tv and maybe it's ok...or maybe try text clock function on off..and be sure that you are in "tv" mode..so it isn't in "semitxt" mode...good luck ron
If you have a menu button on the front of your tv go into the closed caption portion and turn off the text mode . This will get your picture back . If you don't have a menu button on the front of your tv you will need a remote that can access the menu . Good luck
Go page by page with the buttons on front of set ....what
you are seeing is called a text box and it is part of the CC feature...use menu & up / down....left / right buttons.....T.
