I have just set up a Lexmark Optra T610 that we got given at work. It prints the document but also prints thick horizontal lines too. They are random - they appear in different places with each new page. Any ideas anyone?
Thsi could either be a defective cartridge or most likely that the laser unit needs cleaning especialy as the lines move.
try using a can or air duster and blow up to the top on the inside, if this doesnt work then try a new cartridge.
obviously id suggest the air duster first as they dont cost too much
Hope this helps

you have the wrong drivers for the printer. You maybe getting weird characters also. When you turn it off it clears the memory buffer (print job). I assume it seft tet OK. Delete and reload drivers
verify paper tray is set for correct paper. print the configuration menu and check the paper size for tray 1. If it does not have right size, examine the tray bottom to see if slider is in place
Check you Page Setup andmargin set. Sounds like the page isn't set up properly. When you typing a document, go to the FILE then PAGE SETUP. Margins and Paper Layout. Hope this helps. Bud
Your paper size settings for Tray 1 is probably wrong. Make sure it is set to Letter and the type is Plain Paper. If your Paper size is Universal, then either the paper guide in the tray is set wrong or the paper size sensor is broken. If the sensor is broken, you can disable auto paper size sensing so the printer will allow you to specify a paper size. To disable paper size sensing, you need to go into Config Mode. The other way is to send a PJL command to the printer to disable the function.
What happens is that the rubber roller that's supposed to pick paper up and load it in doesn't pull the paper from the tray anymore, hence it gives the paper jam error message. If you want you can replace that rubber roller to fix the problem, however first thing I do is to take that rubber roller out (remove tray and look underneath to find the roller) and turn it inside out then fit it back. This will give the rubber roller the grip that it missed and solve your problem.
It sounds like you are describing the pick arm or autocompensator. It also sounds like you have the printer turned on its right side for that to be on the left. The part you are looking for is part # 99A1056 for the Optra T610.
