When there is no memory card in the camera it works fine, but when the memory card is inserted, (with fresh batteries) the camera turns on, but then the screen immediately goes blank and the camera shuts off with the lens still open.
this is the same memory card that ive always used with this camera, it hasnt been dropped or mishandled, and the card is inserted correctly.
(the same thing happenes when the camera is connected to the computer)

You can insert CF memory and some memory stick cards when you use a special adapter. When you use a memory tick, make sure it is compatible, because the memory stick is the most incompatible memory card, if you have not the correct one.
When you use a CF memory card, check all contacts. Not one contuse pinn in the camera should be belt a little. Use a bright light and a loupe to check.
Check your memory card and see if it has a lock switch on it, if it does and it is locked it wont accept images for overwrite protection , another possibility is a faulty or non-readable card, some memory cards will not work with some devices, sometimes a kingston memory will not work and if you insert a sony or a memorex or any other manufacturer it may work or accept the card, if the camera does not read the card it will not save pics therefore u wont see any images on your PC o in cam playback, try that and see if it works for you, let me know.
Hi There # Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com # 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives. # 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive. # 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'. # 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place. # 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.
