Cut and paste from another site:

I was called to repair similar incident last week. A Compaq box (don't remember the model) with a 'smart' usb keyboard. By this I mean that the keyboard had a row of what I'll call hot buttons. The client had pushed a button with a moon on it causing the monitor to go into sleep mode. I suspect that whatever key you pushed had the same effect.
After plugging a known good monitor into the faulty box I verified that the box was OK. This left me to think the monitor itself had a problem. Plugged the suspect monitor into a known good machine.. and it worked fine!!!
Set machine and monitor to original configuration and still had no video. Decided that the monitor was too smart for its own good and maybe there was something in the monitors menu. Pushed and held the 'menu' button on the monitor for a few seconds and menu comes forward. Green power led also comes on (surprising me) so I powered up the computer and lo and behold the problem is fixed!

Nothing displays on the monitor when I turn on the computer

is there power to the monitor? is the monitor in standby(yellow light on monitor)? is the monitor on (green light on monitor)? how is the monitor connected to the computer, VGA (square fat cable, the end may be blue) or HDMI cable? When you turn on the computer is the power light on and HDD light flashing / showing activity? this would indicate that the computer is booting up. If you have power light and activity on the computer, I would unplug the data cable to the monitor. If the monitor is plugged in, i would press the power button to try and turn on the monitor / take it out of standby. If the monitor is ok you should see a message like "no signal" or "no input". This would tell you that the monitor is fine, but you may have a problem with the video card or video port on the motherboard. If you have no activity light on the on the computer, you may have a problem with the OS not booting up. You really didn't provide much detail on what has been done, but this is how I troubleshoot out in the field when working on something like this.

LCD Monitor will power in and when connects to modem the power button is green then turns orange, what is the problem?

When the monitor button turns to yellow that means the monitor is on standby mode. Try rebooting the the computer after you have connected it to your modem. If the light goes to yellow again check that the computer is on and that all the cables are connected properly. HP Computer monitors are a little confusing, Sometimes depressing the power button again while it is yellow will turn it on and should so green.

Power plug

Most LCD monitors use IEC sockets - these are 3pins sockets.
Power leads are available from computer shops and electrical stores.

The yellow light on the front of the tv fades in and out constantly while the tv is off.

When the TV is off but still connected to the power the light is usually yellow/orange/amber signifying that TV is in standby mode. If you do not want to see the yellow light, all you have to do is unplug the power cord. But by doing that you may have to reconfigure the TV.

I have a vusys monitor and for some reason when i plug it in to my computer it displays a message "out of range" and i recieve no picture any solutionfor this please?

Either
1.) The resolution/frequency your computer is currently running at is a higher resolution then the monitor can handle. Use a different monitor, if it works then lower resolution and replace with the vusys.

2.) You have physical failure. Your video card, cable, or monitor is bad. (Or you don't have it plugged into the right card). Try a different monitor if it works then and you did step one, then you probably have a bad cable or monitor.

HD19A / 19-Inch light flickers but no display

One of 2 possibilities come to mind.

1,  The vga chord is loose on the back of the monitor.

2, Your resolution is set too high or low to be displayed.

The blinking light means that the monitor is either not getting or understanding a signal.

Hope this helps.

Monitor problem

I have had similar problems. It would appear that the power supply is at fault, not the monitor.
