These black lines on the plasma screens are very fixable. There is a dry solder joint on a circuit board at the bottom of the plasma that needs resoldered. There are 6 or 7 "ribbons" along the bottom of the screen that correspond to vertical sections of the display, so you just follow the black vertical line down to figure out which one is faulty. I just performed this fix successfully on my first attempt on a Gateway plasma, but it will work on most plasma's, specifically Hitachi, gateway, LG, Hyundai, & Akai. I think they may all have LG boards, my gateway did.
I can't really describe very well what to do, but I assure you it is fixable. If anyone is near nashville, I might be able to help you out. My email is

The screen will not work but it slowly forms green and other lines, and also the right side of the screen is just black but the other side has the particles on it. What would this be?? the model number is W4200HD please reply back when you get this
I have a DELL W4201C PLASMA tv. I turn the TV on, it flickers and thennothing just silence and blackness but the TV is still on. My dad and Iopened up the back checked the fuses and they appear to all be in goodshape. Could it possibly be bad power supply? Any remedies? Let me knowwhat additional info you need.

where exactly are the vertical lines. if they are upper, its the y-main upper buffer, lower, vice versa. if lines are all the way through, its the y-main board and needs to be replaced.
