I have the same problem with clothing getting trapped under the agitator. Strings from Hoodies, apron strings, bra straps be caught under it all the time. There is a gab between the agitator and the tub. I have owned the machine for about 3 months, I like it in all other respects but this is crazy!! I have never had a machine that did this. GE needs to address this and fix this issue. It is NOT a matter of making sure your pockets are empty before washing, anything that is thin such as a strap or a string gets caught!! I would think twice about buying this machine if you are looking to purchase it. I don't think this machine will last as long as my others, and I don't think I would recommend this machine due to this very annoying issue.

SOURCE: Cloth stuck under agitator in washing machine.

there is a bolt under the fabric softner dispenser (if you have one) if not, its a plastic cap on the top of your agitator which pops off by hand or a butter knife.. then there is a bolt under there that holds the unit down..grap the bottom of your agitator and loosen the bolt and remove it...then lift up carefully on the whole thing..careful not to loose the seal and bolt to put the agitator back in place....good luck..

SOURCE: clothing stuck under agitator

The agitator pops off. You will need to use a flat head screw driver or something short enough to get in the tub and under the agitator and it will pop off. They are on there pretty good so it will take some work

SOURCE: need to remove agitator

Check on the side of the agitator on the lower half for a small set screw. It's hard to see but you can feel it. remove this screw and the agitator should come out.

SOURCE: several pieces of clothing stuck under agitator.

you can remove the agitator. there are 3 steps to this. 1.take off the top plastic part of the agitator. 2 remove secondary plastic piece from inside of agitator 3. there will be a 7/16 bolt inside and will be deep so you will need a long extension to reach it. hold the fins of the agitator and remove the bolt with a ratchet. once the bolt is out you will be able to lift the agitator up.

SOURCE: clothes stuck under the agitator

you really have clothes stuck under the "wash plate" it has almost zero clearance and would be very hard to get something stuck under the wash plate.
if you do have something stuck, then remove the 1 1/2 inch cap in the center of the plate, then a 7/16th bolt that holds the plate down. then grab the wash plate and lift up to remove it.
next time check your pockets and dont let this happen again, it could ruin the outertub by cutting a hole thru it and then leaking.

I have a piece of cloth stuck under my agitator in my GE washing machine

Some have a nut that holds agitator in place. If it does, it would be under top removable agitator cap. If there is no nut, agitator snaps off by slipping fingers under agitator at 3 and 9 o’clock positions and pulling up hard and fast.

How to remove clothes stuck under agitator

the agitator should pull straight up, you may have to twist it back and forth as you pull upward. when you put it back on make sure its all the way down and in place, this may be the reason your clothes are getting stuck under it.

Clothes stuck under agitator

I would try to get clothes out, even if destroyed first. Otherwise,
there is a plastic cover cap on the top of the agitator. remove
by unscrewing or prying off. Hold down nut is exposed and remove
carefully, gently and with a ballanced pry up from underneath to raise agitator.

My GE washer G153 was making a loud noise when draining/spinning out. Next load filled up with water and done nothing else. Now machine turns on but will do nothing.

have an electrician check out the agitator control module. This unit controls the agitation action of the machine and gets power when the tub fills to the desired level and switches over.

Clothing stuck under the agitator

Hold the agitator steady and the very top end will screw off. If very old it will be stuck pretty tight, but do not break it. Then the agitator will lift straight up.
