Question about JVC GM-V42UG 42 in. Plasma EDTV

1 Answer

Help please My Jvc plasma 3+ yrs old w/8300 hrs started showing neon green snow around the edge of the picture, then it got worse, now it's dead. When I try and turn it on it flashes a powerful electrical pulse with pure white screen for a split second and then stops. It continues to do this every five seconds (almost like it's attempting to power up) until I shut the main power to it off. Any repairmen or specialists out there that have heard of this?? I'm desperate. Oh yea, model # is JVC GM-V42UG. Not sure where to find the chassis #. Thanks a lot.

My plasma picture looks green

You are proberbly using RGB leads, wich is red green blue, each colour runs through each cable, have a look at your cables maybe one is loose, or damaged. check on both ends, but the cables MAY NOT be red green and blue, but the terminals that the plug into will be.

Intermittent 3 inch green vertical line-5 inches from right side

it you have a repair skills you need to open the TV and make sure all the ribon connectors around the circuit boards are proper connected
and if all seems to be ok, the DG board will need to be replaced.

If you dont have any repair skills I would recommend you to take you TV to a repair shop since this is complex repair

42EDT41 colored snow/pixels

I have the same green dots that are seen especially when the bacground picture is dark or black. Mine does not seem to be changing when it warms up, and I also get it on my digital cable as well as on any DVD's I play. Please help with any advise. I think it was always there, but I assumed that a dgital cable upgrade would fix it - I should have known better...

Thanks a bunch in advance...

Picture has gone blank

Press menue to see if the menue pops up (yanno for sleep timer and stuff). If not, you need to have it repaired or need a new tv. You could try unplugging it from power for a bit, might help.

If you can see the menues then and your using HDMI, switch to a regular cable line and see if it comes in. Or just tune to channel 4 or somthing and you should get snow. Could just be the HDMI cable.

But if you cant get ANYTHING not even the Ch3 or Volume to show up on the screen, its the screen, a fuse or somthing else

My plasma tv has green color flashing intermittantly, then goes clear, worse when you change channel. Also can sometimes see logo from another channel. It is about 5 yrs old.

unfortunately my solution was to pitch the tv, and had to buy a new one, it was going to cost $1200 and up to fix it. The tech said 5 yrs. for a plasma is about it.

Problems with intermittent green snow

Looks like green horizontal lines, this is definately some type of filter problem. Looks like in the HV or Horizontal are. It first looks like turner problems but you say it's on all inputs. Then if that's correct it's not the tuner.
