Did check initial settings to see if it was just a simple setting issue. My wife said that she notices for the last month or two that she could hear it running constantly. She tried to turn it down a bit to see if it would stop constantly running but everything just got a little warmer (still cold beer but not icy cold) Than this past weekend a turn for the worst, fridge side was still somewhat cool not icy but the freezer side started to defrost. Things near the top first and than everything thing. We unpluged it yesterday and are planning on cleaning it from head to toe including the coils tonight. I will also look to see if the fan and compressior are both coming back on when I turn it back on. I saw on this site trouble shooting information regarding a defrost timer or ??? The fridge is a Kenmore side by side 18 or 21 feet: Part #sr1087, purchased from Sears like four years ago.
Sounds like it has a defrost problem. Check for thick frost buildup on the back bottom panel in the freezer first and let me know what you find so I can steer you in the right direction. Also, give me the entire model # from the sticker inside fridge.
