with Hampton Fans,, normally if the remote is good with a known good battery , and it quits working,, its the remote receiver, not the actual remote that goes bad. you can contact these guys I heard they have the part you need http://www.ceiling-fans-n-more.com/hampton-bay-ceiling-fan-parts.php

I HAVE A HAMPTON BAY MODEL AC-418 CEILING FAN. IT

Your issue is most likely a faulty speed control. The part is integral to the remote receiver in the fan housing. You can purchase spare parts for this fan through Home Depot (Hampton Bay) Service at 800-654-0688.

The fan unit itself is manufactured by AirCool 800-896-4908

Lights flicker when turned off by remote

I had this same problem with a Hampton Bay fan with a remote light switch. I call the manufacturer of the of the switch and was told that the model switch I had would not work correctly with CFL bulbs. The problem is with the dimmer function. You either need to change the bulbs to incandescent, or change the remote receiver in the ceiling. Hampton Bay was kind enough to send me a new receiver that works with CFL. The CFL units are white, and the incandescent is black. Hope this helps you.
