This model also has a high rate of leaking fluid out of the CRTs. When this happens, the fluid drops on the CRT driver board (the board connected to the neck of each of the three tubes) and usually shorts out the driver IC ( 9-pin chip screwed to heat sink) and trips the protection circuit. The timer light will blink, but startup is halted by the microprocessor to prevent further damage to the television. This is usually easy to detect by either fluid evident on the board or in a small puddle underneth one of the tubes. If this is the case, this is not an easy fix and will have to serviced by a repair tech....

Hope this helps....

Replace STK392-040 convergence IC's w/ first quality parts.Do not use generics,I use Panasonic with no recalls.Locate fuse

device that is open (bad) in power supply circuit.Usually a small, soldered-in pico fuse.Check any/all fuses.Re-check convergence alignment when finished.

If I'm not mistaken, that model only has a VGA input. Unfortunately, you are stuck using composite, component, svideo, or VGA video inputs.

Our tv will not turn on

Our AKAI was just 14 months old. A few days ago, it died also. Blank screen, no sound, but the timer light will flash on a couple of times when you try to power it up. It even sounds like it wants to turn on. I paid a tech to come to my house $65 and it turns out to be the power supply $385. I checked other chat boards and many people are having this same problem with their AKAI 42" (PT4298HD) televsion. A real piece of junk this model! Sorry for the bad news!
