Question about Toshiba 43H70 43" Rear Projection Television

Rear projection 43" Tv

I took the right (Green) board out to repair bending convergent red signal and now it is flickering rapid. The board was tested OK and two STK392-110 ICs (driver chips) was replaced with 2 from electronix by a service repair person. It didn't flicker before replacing the 2 stk392s. What could possibily be wrong with It? Bad stk392s or something else? Maybe on the tan board? Please help.

The black box with 4 large red wires in it is the high voltage distribution box. One red wire brings the high voltage in and the other 3 bring high voltage to each of the 3 picture tubes. If those red wires are not all the way in and tight, then there will be high voltage arcing inside that box and the picture will rapidly flicker. Make sure all red wires are pushed all the way into those holes and your picture should be back to normal. Convergence IC's will not make the picture flicker, so I am sure your IC's are fine.

Try adjusting the convergence. If it won't move see below- red IC in particular
This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually charge between $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

43FDX15B No picture, Power light stays on

Just a thought, but check all of the pico fuses for a blown fuse. The pico fuses look like a small yellow resistor. Some Hitachi's are famous for having a blown hi-volt ceramic capacitor and a blown pico fuse.
I think the red led on is a short protect indicator, but I could be mistaken.

Picture has shadows with different colors (red, yellow, green)

Sounds like the convergence needs adjustment. You can do this through the menu-follow the on screen instructions. The idea is to line up the red, green, & blue.

Converging green?

jaymz, you can`t move the green, the green tube is always mounted in the middle and is not adjustable from the convergence menu. red & blue should be converged one at a time on top of the green, once you have accomplished this the crosshatch grid will be white and that means your done :)

43H71 43 in

Look up and read about the convergence amplifiers on this website. I just helped a friend repair his 53H71. We replaced the STK392-110 IC's on the signal board. The shop quoted him $400 for the repair. We replaced them for $35. If you're not comfortable soldering then this might not be a good repair for you to try. Good luck.

TV Flickers up and down and screen is shifted to the right w/ red color dominating the screen.

the last hitachi that had this problem i fixed it bad finding bad solder conenctions throughout the board that the convergance ic's are on, also i foind some on the two main board in my repair. hopefully resoldering the convergance foard will fix the jitter or jumping around problem. if the picture is too red you can also try turning down the screen control slightly. good luck
