You don't need any special software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

you don't need a cd or software to upload the pics to your computer you just need a sd card reader to connect your card to the pc and from there you can move the pic from your card to your computer. A card reader is actually quite cheap.

SOURCE: Need Fuji FinePix 2650 Software

Try the fuji 800 number they may be able to sell you a new driver cd. otherwise you can buy a card reader at any camera store that will eliminate the need for software completely for about $15.

After downloading photos, instead of them opening in Finepix viewer screen (to allow me to rotate & crop etc) I keep getting a 'Finepix Viewer - Desktop' screen. This does not show the pictures...

Hi pamelaknott3,

In this case you would have to check the autorun settings in your finepix viewer sofware , there may be a setting which would indicate autorun or autostart for the finepix viewer desktop application , once you discover it , you would have to disable it, if not then please try uninstalling the finepix software and then reinstalling it so that it loads the default settings that was ok for you earlier.

Hope this helps ..:)

If you have any further queries, just get back to me and I would love to help you out.
