2007 toyota corolla no lights, wont start

Toyota Corolla LE, 60,000miles. Started one day while driving i plugged something into my cig lighter and all of a sudden all of my interior lights quit working (meter lights, clock radio ac and gear shift lights). Also the gauges themselves did not work, neither did the radio, both cig lighters, turn signals, or the power windows. Got home car started fine again but then couldnt take it out of park. Then checked all the fuses, changed the 100amp ALT fuse. by this time the car wouldnt start at all. Changed the ignition switch car started after being jumped but then died just 1/4 mile down the rd and wouldn't start again. checked the battery but it tested good. As of now car only starts when being jumped, while connected the gear shift and a/c lights work, but as soon as it is disconnected the car dies and will not start again. Dont know if it makes a dif or not but the only things that do work are the hazards, the taillights, dome light, lights on the rearview mirror, and the high beams but only to flash them not when turned on completely. I also had the defective computer fixed in the car about a month and a half before all this started.

What did you plug in? I had a similar issue when I plugged in a high amp tire pump. It kept blowing fuses because the pump itself had a short. Be wary of using stuff like that in the cig lighter. I switched to a hand held pump. How was the computer found to be defective? I wonder if the cig issue shorted the computer?

SOURCE: 2003 toyota corolla power problem

Hi there!

If you have checked all the fuses under the dash, Make sure you look at those closest the battery near the engine.

If these test fine, There is probably a cable fault.

If you have a meter, take out the 15A fuse for the lighter, and use a probe between the contacts and ground (steelwork/ Negative)

You should get 12V or thereabouts. If you don't - check engine bay area fuses in the same manner one by one, then replace after testing.

Pull the fuses relating to the radio in the same manner, one by one.

You should be able to identify the fault this way if you are methodical about it.

Hope this resolvesthe problem for you. If it does, Please take a moment to rate as Fixya!

Thanks.

How do i find lighter fuse

Lighter fuse for corolla is on the interior fuse panel on LHS of dash. It is labeled CIG. And is a 15amp fuse, this is common for them to blow when people plug in charging devices or sat. Radios into them, try using the power point socket in centre arm rest.

It appears the fuse controlling my radio and cigarrette lighter is blown, been trying to find the location of the fuse box, it is a toyota corolla te 2005 model

The radio and lighter are on the same cig lighter fuse located in the fuse box at the left lower dash, it may be under a plastic cover, the fuse locations are marked on the cover.

For my toyota corolla 1nz 121 (right hand drive) thereis no power supply to the radio, side rear vision mirrors nd the light in the clock? and also can not locate the fuse box inside the car?

On my right hand drive 2007 Toyota Corolla 1.6 wagon (NZ) the interior fuse box for the radio/cig lighter/mirrors etc was in behind the glovebox. I had to pull open the glovebox (squeeze in the sides to get it past the stops) and carefully unclip it from its bottom plastic hinges (take care to unclip the opening damper on the left hand side as well). Looking up I found the cover to the fuse box. I removed the cover and using the little white plastic tool from the fuse box under bonnet (and the spare 15A fuse from the same place) I replaced the blown 15A CIG fuse and it all came back to life!

1989 toyota corolla cigarette lighter doesn't work

The fuse should be beside the accellerator pedal behind a black cover. Should be a yellow 20amp in the middle row, at the end, closest to the front of the car.
