I have the same problem trying to scan to an iMac with 10.5.5.  I've tried scanning to the computer using the software to save a PDF to Documents.  I now have a folder called "Scanner Output" in my documents, but it is empty.  I also tried using the menu on the HP C6280.  In the Basics Guide, it says to Press Scan Menu, then arrow down to select Scan to Computer; yet, that is not an option.  I can scan to print, or scan to memory card (which also doesn't work - it says memory card is read-only).

I have had my printer for 6 months and love it, but I just tried to scan to my computer and I can't seem to set it up. I've tried reinstalling software, updating the software, adding a new device and plugging in the IP address. I'm frustrated.

Are you using the scan button on the printer or the photosmart software on the computer?

Does this printer scanner scan to save to the computer and if it does how do I do that.

What OS are you using? How is the all-in-one connected to your computer. To scan to the computer, you need to install the full software package (if it is available for your OS). If only the OS drivers are available, you will be able to save scans. However, you can only initiate the scan from your computer. Additionally, if you have the all-in-one connected to a print server (or router USB port), the scan features will not work. (The scanner requires two-way communication with the computer and can fail if you use a USB hub, bad cable, or a long cable. Thus try a new cable of less than 6' in length if you can't launch a scan from the computer.)

Next: use the Canon software (MP Navigator EX) and initiate a scan. You will need to adjust some settings to make sure that the program knows what program to open when you press the scan to computer button. The monitoring software will need to be running to identify the button presses. To set this, select Preferences, then the Scanner Button settings tab. Select Actions and then choose Save to PC in the Event drop-down menu. Use the first scan to set the default scan preferences and destination folder. Then click OK to save the settings.

If you do not have the MP Navigator program, use any scanning program on your computer. For Windows 7 and 8, there is Windows Fax and Scan that can work with the MP252. The Apple Macintosh has a similar program. Third party software will also work (Nuance's PaperPort, for example).

See page 318 in the Advanced section of the manual (available from Canon) for screen captures of setting MP Navigator. http://www.canon-europe.com/Support/Consumer_Products/products/Fax__Multifunctionals/InkJet/PIXMA_MP_series/PIXMA_MP252.aspx?type=manuals .

I hope this helps.

My printer won't print. It will also say "unable

Ok, for the printing part you should check the following:
-connection between printer and computer
-make sure the machine is not in power save mode
-make sure machine is online; click start, printers, choose printer and make sure 'Use Printer Offline' is unchecked
-reinstall the drivers from here: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/as/au/en/model_top/colormfc/mfc5490cn_all.html?reg=as&c=au&lang=en&prod=mfc5490cn_all

Now regarding the scan error, seems to be a mechanical error. Remove and objects that might stop the scanning to proceed. Also, check the manual for Troubleshooting on the link above.

Scan was not successful

Try a new USB cable. Directly connect the printer to the computer if using a hub or print server. Try plugging the unit into a different USB port. Scanners require bi-directional communication with the computer and are much more sensitive to anything that may interfere with that communication.

Do you hear any sounds that indicate that the light source is warming up and moving in the unit? Check if the scanner has a travel/shipping lock and unlock it. If it isn't moving, then you may need to service the unit.

I hope this helps.

Scanning to import to a computer

Normal 0 The best way to scan images to save on your computer is touse the scanner software on the computer. Not the scan function on the scanner.
You don't say what type of scanner and software you have but usually scannersoftware works this way:
1) Place photo on scanner
2) Open scanner software
3) Using the software, Initiate scan
4) Name the Scanned item and save it to your desired location/folder
Note: some applications will automatically save to --My Documents--My Pictures
5) Repeat process for each pic to be scanned.

if this doesn't fix the problem, you have to uninstall adn reinstall the software.
Note: install the printer software on the computer first, then connect the printer to the computer.

Initialization failed - Unable to acquire TWAIN-compliant device

Hello,

I have seen your message stating that "Initialization failed - Unable to acquire TWAIN-compliant device" error is received when trying to connect USB-Parallel type to your Laptop.

Well,  Printer  Panasonic UF4100, recommends to use only " Printer/Scanner Interface as Bi-directional Parallel (IEEE1284) " means you need to use Parallel cable to connect Printer to the Computer/Notebook.  You may receive some communication error messages if you are using a  "PORT REPLICATOR CABLE"( USB TO PARALLEL connector).  The error message that you have received is related to the communication error. Futher, if you use same USB- Parallel cable for long time the Printer Hardware functionality might go bad, since Printer memory gets confused and will not read or detect the Cable , since it is not a cable to use  mentioned by Panasonic Manufacturer.

Let me tell you, general functionality of Printer like Printing would work even if you use USB-Parallel cable. But it is not a case with Scanner and Fax functionality.

Hence, I recommend you to use only Parallel cable to connect your Printer to the Laptops.

I hope that this will resolve the issue for you.

You can email me at [email protected] if you need further assistance.

Bye.
