I bought a new charger but I think something is loose on the inside of the laptop because the charging light just flashes. Help please!

I had a similar issue with the Armada M700 from Compaq. Never did figure it out exactly. But I do know this. When you unplug the power chord and take out the battery and plug the power chord back in while the battery is out usually for some reason it turned on allowing me to replace the battery which would then begin charging. Your problem interests me because I can really relate!

Remove your battery - start the unit on A/C then after booting up refitted battery.

As a tech I have seen this too many times! But good luck use it while you can, but at one point it'll be a 40 minute battle to check get it on just to check your email... Hm.. 3 routes... Replace the power jack, buy one with a bad screen, no hard drive, or memory and use it to charge your battery (very inconvenient), or buy something else and be very careful with the jack
Good luck though

You might be able to replace the jack easily enough. I am not sure what model you have, but some Compaq laptops have modular jacks, meaning they can be replaced instead of having to be repaired or having to replace the entire motherboard. I would recommend you do this or have someone qualified to do this beucase if you leave it as-is then you might burn something out on your Motherboard.
SOURCE: Help! Compaq Laptop "Plugged in,Battery Not Charging"
I had the same problem on my CQ60. HP battery test showed one or more cells not working. After spending about 2 hours talking to some guy in India,or somewhere, he came to the conclusion that my battery was bad. HP sent me a new battery, which fixed the problem.

About 4 months ago, my Compaq laptop stopped receiving charge and I bought another adapter and that worked fine for a while. About 3 weeks ago, the same thing started happening. Unlike last time, though, I can make the laptop register that the cord is, in fact, plugged in everywhere it needs to be, if I push the cord really hard into its spot on the computer. Otherwise, it won't charge. It must be something on the inside of the computer, but I don't know what or how to fix it. Any suggestions?
I have the same problem. I have had my laptop for over a year and suddenly a few weeks ago it started stopping and starting charging and now it has stopped charging completely. Sometimes if I push the charger in it works for a minute or so but then turns off again. Help!!
