Sticky hand grip
Old cameras get this sticky handgrip problem.
Clean it with alcohol.

Try using some rubbing alcohol on it. Should be able to clean it up.

I had the same issue - I used a citrus cleaner, and then just water with a sponge - but be SURE you don't do two things 1) get ANY water on or near the camera's openings, and 2) don't rub too hard, as the rubber is just a coating to hard plastic below - I know this first hand, as I went too far on the top handle, thinking I was getting dirt off, when it was actually the black of the rubber!
I think the grips just do this over time... but the rest of the places where they never met human hands are just like new... so I think it's the oil in our skin that sits on that rubber for a while, and then makes it like that? - has to be related, since it's only tacky at both grips.
