Thank you sooo much! Wasn't too worried about the dvd player. Just the dvd that needed to be returned to the video store. Great advice! Thanks again! :-) P.S. Phillips Support was unable to tell us how to use screwdriver method to release the dvd. Perhaps we should mail this to them, also. Thanks again! :-)

I too encountered the problem this past weekend. after seeing the lack of suggestions in solving, i called philips and after a tedious exhaustion of the most basic and obvious troubleshooting i paid $28.15 for a new unit to be shipped within a couple of days. when the new one arrives, ill have to pack the old one and now that i know how to retrieve my dvd ill have lost nothing in the process. my suggestion on the player, dont sweat it. call philips and see if you too can get a discounted replacement.

I am having the same problem. If you look thru the questions there is a solution on how to get you dvd out. There are "venting" slots underneath the dvd player. There is a slot by itself in the opposite direction. Use a screwdriver...start on the right side and slide it to the left. It unlockes the cd tray. You will be able to get your CD out. As for getting the player to work...I think I may have to buy a new one????

Disney princess DVD player won't work at all anymore.

These DVD players are garbage. I bought one for my daughter and we've had nothing but problems with it. We finally hooked up another DVD player for her because I got tired of trying to make the dumb thing work. I haven't heard of anyone that's been happy with one of these players. Disney should refund everyone who has bought one of these there money back!

DVD player will do nothing

Ok so I took the cover off to see if I could figure out the problem. Don't have a complete solution, but I did get somewhere. There is a silver cylindrical motor attached to the eject mechanism wheels on the VCR side. When I unplugged the tape from the back of the little motor, the progressive light goes out and the sound from the motor stops. When I manually turn the wheel/arm attached to the motor, the other wheels/gears turn and I can manually eject the tape. Also when I get to a certain point, my progressive light starts flashing like yours was. Anyway it all seems to be related to the little motor. I figure if you replace that, it would work. At least that is what I might try, I'll keep you posted.

Hdmi Issue

Most new HDMI DVD players use High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP)on the HDMI output. If you try to play this on an older TV that is not compliant with these new standards it will not work. This standard came out late in 2004 that is why your older player still works. There is also a service bulletin from JVC about upgrading the software on your TV for HDMI compatiblity issues. If you want a pdf file of the bulletin I can send it to you.

DVD player froze, now only turns off

Sounds like the power supply in the dvd player has failed. It works just well enough to turn on the led infront but as soon as you go to do anything it shuts off. This is common in cheaper dvd players. Unless you can troubleshoot electronics. Or know someone that can. Your best bet is to unplug the unit and disassemly and retrieve your dvd.
