Maybe system is corrupted. check the device manager if your touchpad is install otherwise some virus attacked your computer. If you have the driver for this touchpad, try to reinstall it. otherwise you need to reformat your operating system to return it back.
This could be one or some of the 3 issues that may be happening with your notebook or netbook:
1) check control panel (if this is windows) and click on touch pad icon and make sure the sofware to control the touch pad is working and it's on.
2) If it is on, reinstall all touch pad and mouse drivers for this unit by going to the manufature's website and downloading the original drivers for this unit
3) it that does not work, you may have a defective or broken touch pad and it may need replacing
BEFORE CONTEMPLATING A NEW TOUCH PAD, do 1 and 2 first.
They are usually the main causes of touch pad failure and should resolve your issue.
If both fails you may need to order a new part to replace the pad.
I hope this helps. Write me back and let me know how it goes
I know this is a stupid question but are you holding the buttons down at the same time. If so, I would contact Lenovo and make them figure it out, since it is new.
2 things to check, first is the simplest:
1) there should be a button near the touch pad, probably with a light around it which is orange/red at the moment, but if you click it it should change and become usable.
2) if the first doesn't work let me know just repost here and i'll try to get you a link for the driver download ( did you notice specifically when it stopped working ? )
i have two solutions for you. the touch pad can be disabled on the motherboard so plz hold-down the fn key and press the function key that has the sign of a hand pointing something and the second is that ur drivers that enables thae touch pad to work has been courrupted so plz try reinstalling for the touchpad or try repairing ur operating system.
When the touch pad stops working it's one of three things. 1- A driver glitch, unistall the touch pad drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers automatically. 2- The touch pad connector has worked loose. Take the palm rest with the touch pad off, disconnect the cable, clean the connectors, and reseat the cable firmly. 3- the touch pad has failed and will need to be replaced. The driver glitch is the most common, I believe that it should take care of the problem. Let me know.
This will be one of three things; 1- a driver glitch with the touch pad. Uninstall the drivers for the touch pad from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers automatically. You might also look at Compaq's support site for any updated drivers or patches for the touch pad. 2- You may have a loose connection. Remove the keyboard, check and clean the touch pad connection/connector. 3- A faulty touch pad. If the other two don't work, then disconnect the touch pad and try using the machine with an external mouse. If this works, then the touch pad has malfunctioned and needs replacing. Ty these and let me know.
