TV comes on for 45 minutes to an hour and then looses picture and sound. The red power/standby light flashes 3 times at 2 second intervals. After switching off and on again it comes on for a few minutes and repeats the symptoms. After several hours of being switched off the above can be repeated.
Same problem, only mine flashes 5 times. Seems to be in the wire between the board on the back of the tv an the power plug. Can that wire be replaced?SOURCE: TV turn on and off
Your TV has a power problem, it maybe high or low supply voltage that causes the TV to turn it self off because of an error. A technician from the manufacturer knows what error it has just by looking at the flashing standby light. Best is to take it to an authorize service center for repair... ^_^

A 6 flash error indicates a problem with the backlight. Your set is less than a year old and still in warranty, so you should contact Sony and arrange for a service call to get it repaired.

Hello,
Unfortunately, this is a failure of the balancer board for the backlight. The unfortunate part is that the balancer is not available by itself anymore, and the whole panel must be replaced, as Sony only has the balancers attached to new panels. You can contact Sony directly to ask for assistance, and it usually helps.
Hope this helps you...
SOURCE: Have a new Sony Bravia
Hello,
There is some confusion on the model (KDL-40W500 vs. KDL-40V2500), so I will direct this toward the 40V2500.
On the KDL-40V2500, an 8X blink means the scan processer has gone bad, and the BU board needs to be replaced. If the problem is intermittent, the the AU board might be the problem, but if it all the time, bank on the BU.
A competent repair shop should be able to help you, or you can try calling Sony directly for assitance.
Hope this helps you...
