Question about Maytag Atlantis MDE6400AY Electric Dryer
I have a maytag dryer that has stop running here is what happened and what I have done so far. The dryer got chocolate in it one the the kids, I cleaned it out but there was an electric smell to the dryer after that and then it would not work a few days later, I tripped the breaker turned it back on and the dryer worked again for about two days and then the same thing again, now the breaker trip does not work. The light is on in the drum there is no brun marks near the block or on any of the wiring, I have checked both thermal fuses and the venting system all is good there, the timer does not want to run now either. Is this a power problem or do I need to replace some part of the unit?
Add peanut butter for better taste. lol... but seriously, the dryer should be be disassembled somewhat so that all the chocolate (or the residue it left) can be completely cleaned out. Unplug it of course. Get a can of electrical spray cleaner from an auto parts store and squirt off everything electrical inside.
