I have a WFW8300SW01 for 18 months and
during the spin cycle the washer is VERY noisy. The ball bearing sounds like
the grease is missing. (metal on metal)
I have had an authorized service call and the tech said the rear bearing
is out. He called back a week later and said he could not figure out what part /
assembly to order. Whirlpool said they
would supply the part but I had to pay the labor cost. I’m willing to take on the project but how do
I find the part number to order from Whirlpool?
Any suggestions are most welcome.
You need a "tub job". New rear tub with bearing and possibly a basket..This is caused by the wrong or too much soap or constant overloading. It takes 2 men about and hour to accomplish. I'm a repair tech and this is common on front loaders.
Go to sear.com and then to the parts section. Type in your model # and there will be a list of sub compenents to the parts. Click on the tub section and the bearing (rear tub assembly) will be there.
We only had our washer for about 5 years and it is already shot! Just had a repairman out and there were a multitude of problems including door seal, bearings, pump assembly. The cost to repair was outrageous so we ended up having to buy a new one. I think it's ridiculous that a washer only lasts 5 years. The matching dryer also has issues in that the heating coil is going bad. I would never recommend this product.

I have the same issue and wanted to see if the issue was resolved by the first writer.....
I have been in Florida for the winter and will be back to work on the washer in April. I'll keep you posted.
