When turned on, my screen is black.

Yesterday, my pictures were displaying. Today the screen is black and the frame will not turn on, though there is a green light on where the on/off switch is. No buttons will respond and the screen remains completely black like it is turned off but it is on. The frame is warm like it is on, but no pictures will display and the buttoms are nonresponsive.

I have the same problem.  In the off mode the red light is on (near the on-off switch) and when I switch the unit to on, there is a quick flash of red across the screen and then the green light on the back of the unit remains on, but no pictures show.

I have exactly the same problem. Its been working fine for a year or so, now the screen is completly blank, the powere button appears to be on (ie it is lit up) but the buttons are not responsive. Obviously ive tried recharging etc, but no response.

I have the same problem. The frame is plugged into power in the wall, which is stable. If I unplug it and plug it back in, it will work for a while but then it will go black again.

Same problem. The only way to loose the power lights is to press the reset button. I'd be keen to know what the fix is for this.

I have the same problem... Some troubleshooting advice is available at phillips.com (says to try resetting it and stuff like that) but that stuff didn't work for me... Help!

Also, it appears on mine that the screen is not totally black, just extremely dim. Turning up the brightness didn't work either

SOURCE: no pic/sound

If you dont here anything then it sounds like the switching power supply or the horizontal output circuits not starting up. this requires troubleshooting with a variac, as well as maybe a scope. If your not trained to work on HI Voltage circuits you should seek assistance with this repair. Theres HI voltage inside these sets even after they are unplugged for a while. sorry i couldnt be of more assistance.

SOURCE: Black Screen after 5 mins. of use

It sounds like the entire screen goes blank with your problem. My problem is the lower half of the screen goes blank. Do you think the SSB is also the problem? What are your thoughts about the "Video Board" or the X Board?

Do you know where to purchase parts?

SOURCE: dictaphone does not turn on

There is a small hole in the back of the unit. This activates the firmware update. My experiense is someone pushed this in with a pin and caused the switch to be stuck. You can disassemble the unit and use a pin to pry the bubble switch up or off. This switch is only needed to update the firmware which can also be done thre software so is not needed.

SOURCE: TV will not turn on/black screen/picture/green LED is red/blinkin

I had the same problem for my TV which was model number: 42PF9631D/37 and I went to get the software update at http://www.p4c.philips.com. Type in your model number, then click on the right model. Then click on software & drivers in the left column. Then download the correct software update to a flash drive. The flash drive must be completely empty except for this file. Then unplug your TV, and plug the flash drive into the USB port. Plug your tv back in, and the software update will upload. It fixed my TV instantly.

Most likely you have defective capacitors in the Power Supply. It is not an expensive repair but something that needs to be done by a svc. co., if your not familiar with Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS). I hope this helps and Thank You for using FixYa.. Let me know....

Sony DPF-d72n digital photo frame will not switch on

Solved!

My Sony DPF-D72N frame is a few years old. Today I unplugged it (fool!) and plugged it back in. The screen would flash on and off to black. Power button light would turn on and off. After plugging and unplugging it a few times, it would not turn on at all.

I tested the power supply, and it showed 5V. I was about to throw the frame away, but on a whim, I tested a 2nd power supply. It worked!

So even though the power supply looked like it was working, it was only without a load on it.

Replace your power supply!

I happened to have a spare 5V 2A power supply, so I just chopped the end of the dead power supply and soldered it onto the new one.

And we all lived happily ever after.

I have a Philips PhotoFrame - SPF3408/G7 (SPF3408T/G7). When plugged in no picture comes on screen. Screen does not light up. I viewed pictures yesterday - but - I don't get anything today. I know...

Keep in mind that Digital Photo Frame can display the same photo continuously for 1000 hours without any damage to the LCD screen.
If you can enter to the settitgn menu, first make sure the system is properly powered. Then use a pin to trigger the reset button located on the side of the power button on the back to restore the system...

zjlimited_475.gif

If this isnt work try...
  1. Load all the photos you want to upload to the Photo Frame in the root directory of your memory card.
  2. Power off your Photo Frame by pressing the Power button.
  3. Insert the memory card into the slot in the frame.
A For a Compact Flash card, firmly slide card in the larger slot end first and face down.
B For an xD, SD, MMC, or Memory Stick card slide card in the smaller slot end first and face up until it locks into place.
zjlimited_476.gif

  1. Restart Photo Frame by pressing the Power button.
  2. After a few seconds, all photos in the root directory of the memory card will be automatically added to Photo Frame. The root directory on memory card will not be emptied after this operation.

Please do not remove the memory card just after inserting it in Photo Frame or when Photo Frame is counting the Photo.
Wait until the screen is stable.

NOTE: This operation does not apply to photos in sub-directories.

If anyone of this procedures work fine, I suggest contact your local service (check if even is underwarranty).

Good luck.

Nothing or black screen shows up when pic is taken

The problem is with the software in the camera! So take your camera to the nearby service center and do a format of your camera! That will fix your problem. Also check whether there is any problem in ur LCD screen!

Had the same problem with mine. It happens when trying to display portrait, or vertical, pictures. I don't think there's a way to prevent it other than to display only landscape, or horizontal, pictures.

Tv display black bar in the middle of the screen

I battled with this for a while before I realized that my 18 month year old had somehow turned on one of the less common closed caption modes. Since the mode was not supported, it just displays a black frame over most of the screen. Just turn it off and you are good to go.

Pictures are black

My 4300 works fine until this week. No picture display on the LCD screen. Settings like date, exposure, etc.. are fine on the LCD screen. Able to get into setup mode and the colour menu selection box is fine. This shows that the LCD screen is working fine. Prior to this happening, I notice that when I took pictures in zoom mode, the picture turn out to be orange. I suspect this is caused by electronic failure. Light entering the lens cannot be transmitted to the LCD screen. Some photoelectronic stuff had reached its MTBF (mean time between failure)? Is there a way to save this camera?
