Question about Toshiba TP50H50 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Toshiba tp50h50 Lost picture and sound, blinks red on frount pannel. Fuse blowen on pb8102-2 powerbord. If I remove a wire from this powerboard picture and sound return but out of focus. I replaced both stk ic and checked resistors around the ic. Im guessing but voltage from the power supply may be off. Where on the board would be a good spot to measure all the voltage to see if its correct? If you have any ideas please let me know? Thanks

The fuse on PB8102 at location F850 blows out and tv comes on, and is out of focus. if I remove wire (P807) from this board fuse is ok tv goes on same problem.

I have also checked fuse f470 and have 125Vdc

Have made other checks but could use a little help.

    Thanks

I was checking the main power supply
and I hope i did it correctly using a digital mulimeter. First I unpluged p807 and replaced fuse850 on PB8102. By unpluging p807 kept the fuse from blowing and tv on.

    D856 & D855 showed 0vdc s/b +36

    D851 showed 0vdc s/b +18

    D854 showed 0vdc s/b -18

    D886 showed 13vdc & D889 20vcd s/b +38

    D891 showed 13vdc & D894 14vdc s/b +12

    D882 showed 20vdc &D884 25vdc s/b +125

Checked both ends of the diode for differant reading about the same.

Please let me know what you think?

    Thanks

You really should get a service manual for this set to check the voltages. If you found out what the wire was for that you remove from the board to get the set to come on, you could troubleshoot and narrow down your problem. Without it you would be guessing. Good Luck and let us know how you made out.

My toshiba TP50H15 color tv comes on then off and the light blink

The flashing power light on those Toshibas is usually caused by capacitors on the power board having failed solder connections. I have fixed them before by removing the power board and resoldering the capacitors. If you have experience with soldering and electronics it is an easy repair. Most shops will recommend replacing the entire board since their labor to repair it would probably cost more. Toshiba put out a service bulletin on this issue which a good technician should be aware of. (If memory serves the capacitors are C109 and C110.  Since your TV still turns on you probably haven't blown fuse F860 which often blows when these capacitors act up.)
If you would like further help with this please post a comment back here.

Your color tube has probably went out that is why you have sound but no picture, you will have to call a tv repair place or where you bought it from to get an estimate on having it repaired

Toshiba 50H50: No picture or sound, red light blinks

On alot of these Toshiba TV sets, there is a fuse called F860 that will blow and the light will flash because of bad solder connections on C 810, and C 809, on the negitave terminal. I have seen many of these boards condemed by non-authorized Toshiba repair shops. Good Luck

Toshiba TP 50H50 Blank Screen

IT sounds like you lost your high voltage going to the picture tubes. This could be due either to part of the main power supply going out due to a defective capicator or semiconductor, or something more serious in the High voltage distribution network. With the age of the set, I would be most inclined to replace it with a new HDTV, and Toshiba still are pretty reliable sets. If you can afford it, a Sony KDS-55A20 puts out a beautiful picture for around $2300.
