Press enter to align cartridge

I have the hp psc 950 printer. I just changed cartridges and get "press enter to align cartridge" message. No matter how many times I press enter, and the printer aligns the cartridge, I get the same message over and over again even after opening and reinserting the cartridges, unpluging the unit, and cleaning the cartridges. The printer will not do anything but give the same message. HELP

I have had this printer for several years and changing cartridges has been a breeze, but now after replacing new cartridge it ask to realign but only prints a blank paper. Now it says I have a paper mismatch--I have used the same paper for years.....

I can print from Word but printer will not copy and print or print the alignment page.
