SOURCE: black ink cartidge

If a black cartridge will not print, with no error messages, it is probably th printhead. Clean it with proper cleaning solution. Refilled ones if done yourself or by someone else, can also have air bubbles, Try blowing down refill hole with tissue under the cartridge to stop ink spills. Also, if you press a folder non scented wipe under the cartridge firmly, you should get a solid little black line or impression. This will tell you if the ink is getting down ok. Try reprinting.

SOURCE: Color Cartridge Missing

Please follow the steps given below:
1 Turn the printer/All-In-One off and unplug the power cable from the outlet.
2 Open the printer/All-In-One lid so that the cartridge carrier can be accessed.
3 Remove the print cartridges.
4 Using a dry, clean cloth wipe the carrier contacts gently from top to bottom.
5 Repeat Step 4 for the other cartridge slot (if applicable).
6 Reinsert the cartridges, slide the cartridge carrier to its original position, and close the printer/All-In-One lid.
7 Plug the printer/All-In-One back into the power outlet and turn it back on.

Next, try to perform a Self test:

1 Press the Copy button on the operator panel once (this button is located under Mode).
2 Press the Options button ten times until Maintenance appears on the display.
3 Press the left arrow button (-) once. The display should now read Self Test Page.
4 Press Select. The printer will print a hardware test page.

SOURCE: My printer wont accept my coloured ink cartridge

Is it the new original cartrigde colour or not ? If yes, you should ask a guarantee from the seller.
There is a chip inside the cartridge, sometimes it doesn't compatible for the printer software to read the chip.
The printer will keep asking for the new one if there is no ink in the cartridge.

SOURCE: lexmark x7170 printer cartridge error

Remove the color ink cartridge and double check that the plastic tape, which you removed from the cartridge is completely removed. I've noticed that sometimes a small piece of the protective tape tears and stay stuck on the cartridge causing the printer to give a false error. When replacing the cartridge be sure its fully inserted into the color cartridge holder and the locking mechanism locks securely.

Missing color ink cartridge...have full black cartridge...Printer won't print.

Hello, this is to be expected . You will need to have all cartridges installed and with ink in, even if you only want to print in black, or the printer will detect an error and won't work.

Installed a black ink cartridge and the printer shows the message 'black cartridge missing' and also says 'cartridge error: error 50c'

Hi there Error 50c

Can only gave it a try.

Regarding the Dell A940 "Error 50c"....the user guide doesn't seem to mention "Error 50c". They do, however, mention a "Cartridge Error" on page 52 of the manual. They claim this means that the printer has detected a short circuit (fuse/resister) in the cartridge. As you may or may not have noticed in the manual, this is what they recommend doing about it:

1) Press Power to turn the printer off.

2) Lift the printer cover/lid (scanner unit) until the scanner support holds it open.

3) Turn the printer on.
The ink cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the printer is busy.

4) Remove the color ink cartridge.

5) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.
If the error message displays again, replace the black cartridge with a new black cartridge.

If the error message does not display, repeat steps 1–3 and then go to step 6.

6) Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black ink cartridge.

7) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If the error message displays again, replace the color cartridge with a new
color cartridge.
If there is no error message (indicated by flashing lights), repeat steps 1–3 and then reinstall both ink cartridges.
8) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If you get the error message again, while both cartridges are installed, replace both of the cartridges.

Basically, what they want you to determine is,....if the short circuit is with the "black ink" cartridge or the "color ink" cartridge and then replace the cartridge that has the problem.

You may have to buy a new cartrige.
Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Ink cartridge problem! The following ink cartridges appear to be missing or damaged.

Solution :
1. clean the ink cartridge contacts both in the printer and the cartridge with a lint free cloth or a cotton swab. and try inserting the ink cartridges again. if it wont work proceed to step 2.
2. unplug the power cord at the back of the printer
3. press and hold # and 3 keys at the same time and plug the power cord back in. Do not release the two keys. wait until the printer would say "partial nvram reset" or anything that says "reset". if this still would not resolve the problem
4. do the same process as 2 & 3 but instead of # and 3 try # and 6. instead of saying "partial nvram reset" it should say "semi-full nvram reset". and if it would not work better go to an onsite technician. but if your printer if brand new return it to the retailer and exchange it. but before you do that try calling HP technician they would instruct you to the things i have given you. Just tell them what you have had done and asked them to replace the ink cartridges. This are the informations the agent would ask you about the ink cartridge
part number and also the expiration date.
try to ask for a replacement first if it would not resolve it. then go to a technician. I could not assure you that a technician could fix it because i have troubleshoot this kind of problems and there are alot of printer parts that needs to be fixed. Usually i suggest my clients to buy a new printer instead
