SOURCE: Zanussi fridge freezer - fridge not working

The defrost cycle is not happening like it should, that's what causes the block of ice (and poor air flow). If you have all that defrosted look at the defrost bi-metal, it usually is a small round disk with a couple wires coming out of it and it's clipped on the coils. When it's cold enough, it passes electricity to the heat elements, when it gets hot enough it "opens" and kills power to the heat elements. If that is bad (swollen cracked or bloated) and not passing electricity to the elements that's the problem. Another item would be the defrost timer itself, if it doesn't work (no clock motor turning) then it will never go into defrost. And the last and usually least expected failure would be the heat element themselves not working

SOURCE: Fridge on Fridge freezer not working

Ok there is a drain pan under the evap. coil under the fan that may be clogged and full of ice there is a 3/4" hole the water drains out of that needs cleared if there is a puddle of ice over it , the ice will also effect the airflow traveling down the duct to the fresh food section of the unit.
If there is no ice puddle at the bottom of the refrigerator then make sure the unit is cooling well by making sure it has been running for 10 min. or so and checking the coil in the freezer , it should have a small layer of frost on it showing its getting cold the whole way through it. Let me know how this works.

SOURCE: zanussi fridge compartment has stopped cooling but freezer is ok

How to check everything
http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/refrigerator/refrigerator.php

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp .

OR.
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

Why is my smeg fridge not keeping anything cool

Hi...the same thing has happened to me. My Smeg Fab28 refrigerator compartment has stopped cooling. The freezer still works. There was a build up of ice on the back fridge wall, and the milk was freezing up, so I turned down the temp. After the ice melted, I heard a bang like a bunch of ice had dropped. I turned the temp back up but it steadily stopped cooling even more. I decided to defrost the freezer, and had the power off completely for about 5 hours. When I turned it back on, the freezer worked, but the fridge is not cooling AT ALL.

Did you fix the problem and if so, how?

Thank you
Bev

No temp lights on fridge or frezer panel.light on in frezer not in fridge

Try cycling the power. Switch of the fridge at its isolator (or wall socket), leave for 1 minute and switch on again.

Consult your owner manual for guidance.

If still under warranty, contact your dealer.

No light in fridge compartment, Not freezing. Light in freezer co

Your door switch is bad.  When doors are opened, the fan stops.  No cooling.  When it closes, fan starts.  Bulb is just an indicator of no power to unit...probably burned out contact in switch.

Top half fridge not cold freezer department fine

I had the same problem; the top fridge compartment was warming up to 14C while the freezer compartment was starting to defrost (frozen stuff was starting to become soft. I took the rear wall off the freezer compartment and found it all iced up. I defrosted it with a blower heater then powered it back up. It all worked fine for a month when the same thing happened. I figured that the defrost cycle wasn't working. I located the defrost timer on the rear right-side of the fridge. I rotated it several times and found that the fridge was turning on and off. I rotated it until the fridge turned off. I waited 5 minutes then stuck my head into the freezer compartment and felt the rear wall at the bottom where he drain is; it felt warm so I guessed the defrost heater element was ok. I ordered a defrost timer and installed it. I haven't had a problem since.

Fridge stopped working, freezer still works

Light going out is a separate problem. If the freezer is still working and the fan in the freezer operating check for frost on the back wall. If there is frost on the back wall you have a defrost system problem.
Possible open heater, bad timer, or defrost thermostat. If the freezer is not working check for power to it. Reset the breaker if necessary.
If the light went out because of some power loss the freezer would not be working.

FRIDGE NOT WORKING

Most side by side and other models of refrigerator freezer combinations are of one basic design. The freezer section does the cooling for both compartments. The refrigerator section gets it cold air from the freezer compartment. Therefore check for frost on the back wall of the freezer compartment. If frost is present there you have a defrost problem and it is cutting off the air that cools the refrigerator section.

I think this problem may already be resolved in some manor because of the date of post. Posts should expire after an unreasonable time period.
