PCV-RX463DS Sony Vaio Sound

Normally, Windows XP is installed into this system. My system ended up actually giving me blue screens and then failed to start the operating system all together.

The PCV-RX463DS does not come with recovery CDs or Windows XP install disk.

I had no choice but to format the computer and install the only operating system I have on disk which is Windows 98.

Everything is working fine with windows 98 with the exception of the sound drivers. ( ADI SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio )

I did find one SoundMax driver that installed but didn't work properly only heard a few sounds like the click of my mouse followed by patterns of static.

Hoping someone could help me with the drivers for windows 98. Perhaps someone knows how to get into the .exe file for the windows xp install utility and snatch out the drivers so I can use them for the .exe install utility is only compatable with windows xp.

If I could just get the drivers out of the install utility it would work fine but I don't know how to do that. It would be easy to just manually install the drivers myself instead of going through .exe install utilities.

I've tried just about every SoundMax driver I can find on the internet but the ones that would work are inside install utilities that request that I run windows xp.

Much apprechiated, thanks.

I found it. It was AD1881A-2k_me_se.zip from driverguide.com. Works great if anyone else has the same problem. Just google that zip file and anyone could find it.

I would like to try to use my pcv-rx463ds with my 50" plasma. Will it work? Will i need drivers to support the plasms resolution?

to be honest you would need to upgrade the the graphics /memory and processor as this is a very old spec computer , if you can repost your question with the included specs of your computer we might be able to give a better answer

Sony Vaio PCV-RS710G wont start up

one of the files in the system32 directory in the windows folder is corrupt, the files in the system32 folder contains vital files for the boot procedure, try to start the machine in "safe mode" by pressing F8 after the sony boot screen, if it allows you into the operating system you will need to choose "system Restore" take the time back to at least a week before your problems started DO NOT CREATE A RESTORE POINT

if this has previously worked fine, then choices are: 1.) run "system restore" to an earlier date when you know it worked. 2.) re-install windows xp
