Just wondering if you might know the correct combination of buttons on my dryer that will give me the diagnostics? With this combination a screen will appear with blower RPM's, heating element temp etc.......3 buttons from what I remember the tech doing on in while he was here once.
I figured it out by myself, the customer care line was a joke and the manual is just that, for your average type of questions. It doesn't dig into technical issues at all.
Thanks though, I really do appreciate your respnse.

Are you having problems with your GE Profile Harmony but don't know where to start to troubleshoot? Let the dryer do it for you, here's how:
It's called "Field Service Mode" 1. Press the POWER key to turn the dryer on. 2. Press HELP. The main help screen is displayed. 3. Press and hold MY CYCLES and BACK simultaneously for 3 seconds. Press EXIT to return to the HOME screen.
The system will give you a description of possible hardware failure and troublecode.
Replace the failed piece of hardware and plug your system back in. It will go through a boot-up sequence and verify that your machine is working once again.

I too have a GE Profile Harmony (Gas) Dryer that had started vibrating and making a loud noise. I removed the screws that held the filter and grill to the inside of the door frame and placed a mirror inside so I could see down inside the fan. I found that a softner sheet had somehow gotten around the filter screen and had lodged in the blades of the fan and had collected a fairly large amount of fine lint. The combination of the dryer sheet and the lint had created an out of balance condition that caused the dryer to vibrate and make noise (the forward cabin door has been closed and we're ready for takeoff!) I used a bent coat hanger as a hook and using the mirror to aim the hanger, I hooked the dryer sheet and pulled it out through the hole for the filter.
I hope I'm not too late to help you if indeed this is your same problem.
You didn't state whether or not you were getting an error code. On this model if the blower motor exceeds 3000 rpms for one minute the dryer will stop. Usually this is caused by a clogged or pinched vent hose or vent itself. Check this out first. You can find the tech sheet under the consol. I believe it unscrews from the back and lifts up. This will give you detailed info on how to enter the diagnostic mode. If you cannot find the tech sheet, post back and the cat here will walk you through it. Catriver..post back.
