Question about Roper RES7646KQ Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Roper / Whirlpool dryer. No power / intermittent power.

I have a Roper RE7646KQ front load dryer. It has worked fine for three years. We recently moved and while I was installing it at the new house It would not power up. No light no heat no motor no buzzer. Nothing completely dead. Then suddenly the light would come on and it would work, but when I pushed it up against the wall it would be dead again. Cord is new and we have power all the way up to the terminal block and to the the timer. I took the top off the dryer and can find no burnt or broken wires or loose connections. The only two things left I can think of is the door switch and the timer. Am I missing something?

Come to find out an animal had chewed partially through the nuetral under the house. When I would pull the unit out it was next to the furnace and grounding out against the frame thus completing the circuit and making the dryer work. So then when I would push it back in it was no longer touching the furnace frame and no longer grounding through the safety ground of the furnace and then not working anymore. Took me a few minutes of pushing it upagainst the furnace and pulling it away but I eventually figured it out!

The door switch would be my top candidate.

My duet front loader dryer has no power

If you have 220v going to the unit you want to take the bottom pannel off. It should be three tork screwws. Then there is a little white fuse mounted on the blower houseing. This is the most common problem especally if your vent has not been cleaned in a while. (over 3-4 years.)

Cleaning lint

Your Roper dryer is made by Whirlpool, there is no reason to clean lint from around the heater, very little lint collects in that area. Every once in a while you can take the front off by removing 2 screws from under the lint screen, then pry up the top and there are 2 screws that hold the front on inside facing out. After removing the front you can vacuum inside below the drum.

Whirpool GGw9250Pw3 no power on Control Panel Inside light works

In my case, the problem was a dead main board. The board cost $190 and the overall repair cost $335. I will never buy another Whirlpool due to this experience.
