We have dropped our Canon PowerShot S50 into water. It is now not working, despite having dried out. The memory card is OK. Is there anything we can do?

You most likely have a problem with the memory card reader inside the camera. Have it repaired,it's not expensive at all and it's the only option for correcting this problem. This place is excellent and the most affordable for Canon Powershot repairs (it's all they work on): www.CamerasAndParts.com Go to their site and you should find the email address for them. Send them an email, they'd be the ones to help you with this problem since it's a Canon. Good luck
ok there is one fix that i used with my canon sd700 again, it dropped it in the water and it stopped working i took of the screen and changed the batterey wattage to 65w instead of 45w using a zxd breaker then the "hotfix" i pit it into a oven for 30 sec to get all compo. hot and then let it cool i pressed the power button, and it worked!! bad thing is the battery lasts about 5 or 6 hours only because of wattage change!
If the other solutions didn't work for you, you can always buy a memory card reader for around $30... These plug into your computer, and then you remove the memory card from your camera, and it clicks into the reader. Or your comptuer, if it was made in the last year or 2, may have an SD card reader built in...
