If you are trying to install the driver for the Broadcom ethernet NIC that was pre-installed (NOT an ethernet card that you purchased and installed yourself), there is a softpack (updated driver installation) download available from HP/Compaq. It will install the driver automatically for you, just download it from the link below and run the ".exe" file.
IMPORTANT:
Check to be sure that your current Operating System, and model of the network device you are trying to install, are BOTH listed below BEFORE you download!

Are there any indications at all? For example is there a light on the power pack? Does the hard disk drive spin up? Do you get as far as the BIOS screen?
Can you elaborate a bit more please?
