Smarthru won't open in win 7

I presume you have Windows 7, right? If everything else is ok - printer working properly, you may drag the SmarThru icon form the start menu on your desktop.

When the flash drive is inserted and is still detected Kingston, flash drives can be repaired and the data can be saved.

How to save data
To save data, use software full version, for example, you can use EASEUS Data Recovery. After the data is saved, do the repair flash drive.

Repair flash drive Kingston

For Win XP, first way
Insert the flash drive - open the HP Drive Key Boot Utility - Next - select flash drives - Next - Create New or Replace ..., select Next - Next select Hard Drive - Create New File system, select Next - wait for the process is completed - Select Next - HP firmware Flash ..., select Next - wait for the process is completed - finish. Then, quick format the flash drive.

For Win XP, second way
Insert the flash drive - open the HP Drive Key Boot Utility - Next - select flash drives - Next - select Backup/Restore - Next - click Restore - click browse, open file C:\Program Files\Compaq\hpdkbu\ flash\initrd.img - Next - wait until the process is complete.

For Win Vista & 7, first way
Insert the flash drive - double click cp006049.exe - for example, extract to C:\HP Drive Key Boot. Open folder C:\HP Drive Key Boot then double click file hpdkbu.exe - Next - select flash drives - Next - Create New or Replace ..., select Next - Next select Hard Drive - Create New File system, select Next - wait for the process is completed - Select Next - HP firmware Flash ..., select Next - wait for the process is completed - finish. Then, quick format the flash drive.

For Win Vista & 7, second way
Insert the flash drive - double click file hpdkbu.exe - Next - select flash drives - Next - select Backup/Restore - Next - click Restore - click browse, open file C:\HP Drive Key Boot\initrd.img - Next - wait until the process is complete.

Description
initrd.img files, the image file for the schema partition flash drive capacity <= 2GB. For capacity >2GB, example: 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, etc when we use the initrd.img file, will be changed to 2GB capacity. To restore the capacity of flash drives, do the Low Level Format. Then, remove the flash drive from the computer, then insert it again. Then do a quick format the flash drive. Finish

Try this, (Vista & Win 7)
1. Close Skype

2. Exit the Skype icon from the system tray(at the bottom right of the screen)

3. Ensure that "Show hidden files and folders" is switch is check & enabled
(i). Start-> type "Run" & press Enter
(ii). Type "control folders" & click OK
(iii). Select the View tab & ensure the relevant entry is enabled

4. Locate the shared.xml file
(i). Start-> type "Run" & Press Enter
(ii). Type "%appdata%\skype" & click OK
(iii). Delete the "shared.xml file" - (without quotes)

Restart Skype, a new shared.xml file will be created.

Hope it will help.

This might be due to software compatibility issues with Win 7.

Try running the program in "Windows 7 Compatibility Mode", there are not assurance it will work. Hope it work for you & good luck.

Print Shop 22 Deluxe is not compatible with Win 7 (x86 or x64bit) Operating.

You have to use the Print Shop 22 Deluxe version 23.1 - compatible with Win 7 & Vista.

Works in my Gateway Netbook running a Win 7 Starter OS, Won't even install on my Dell N5010 running a Win 7 Home premium OS. BUT IT does work in Safe mode on the Dell laptop. Tried compatibility mode. Have no Idea why it won't install.

I just fixed this problem for my computer. Try installing the scanner driver. You probably have the printer driver installed but the scanner driver is needed for Smarthru
