Its probably faulting on a limit safety switch. By turning it off then on, that may be resetting it. Or, the controls(tstat) is acting up, and by turning it off, that resets it.
have you tried using a different wall socket? occasionally they do go bad and have to be reset. try switching your tv to a different socket or resetting the one you are currently using.
It is possible it could be a switch but this is usually after extensive use. If it does the same with the remote control chances are it's not the switch. These sets had problems with the vertical circuit as well. I've fixed a lot of these with vertical problems. It should not run but about $80-$100 to repair if it is a vertical problem. These sets have a lot of safety cicuits as well so it could be a horizontal circuit problem as well or power supply. Kind of hard to say without a good troubleshooting. Thanks
Good Day sir, the reason why your tv act that way is the switching power supply. The power supply regulator, cannot supply the current needed by your TV. these can be caused by several factors. a faulty switching regulator, low power, or filter capacitor leaking, check the voltage across the VCC after the regulator, if possible the switching transistor. and the ic that controls the pulse they are usually near each other. for safety reasons, better consult your service personnel. hope this helps. if you need more assistance, do let me know. thanks
you tv have a problem of vertical ic or cacacitor or resistor right around vertical section. that is make tv shut down in alot of magnavox tv. good luck!
MAGNAVOX TV ONLY. 5-10 SECONDS AFTER TURN ON AUTO TURNS OFF-NO LIGHT STAYS ON-I AM FRUSTRATED BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THE OFF ON SWITCH JUST CLICKS BACK TO OFF-ALSO DOES SAME THING BY REMOTE
