SOURCE: When I turn on my sister's Acer Aspire One

Hi

if you do not have anything on it that you are desperate to keep you could try the factory
restore option

to do this

power up and press the ALT+F10 key a couple of times
this will hopefully take you into the factory restore option
then follow the on screen instructions

hopefully this will help you
many thanks

Fit

hi there!
The program doesn't fit on computer screen because the resolution of computer screen is too low. could you right click on the desktop and change resolution of screen to higher. I guest your current is 800x600. Change it to higher will fix your problem.
( another way to change to enter button is using Tab key on the keyboard. Every time you hit Tab key, it will move to next button on the program.Try Tab and hit Enter on the keyboard.)
Hope this will help.

How to use external monitor on a toshiba laptop with external monitor

It's probably best to buy a keyboard off auction sites or a new screen, the Function keys are not OS sensitive so a different keyboard will not work with them, they are device specific and require special drivers to operate.
Are keys broken or are they just missing? the membrane will still work to a firm press even if the key is missing.

keyboards can be found on auction sites

sorry I can't help more.

Daughters keyboard wasn`t working properly so i was going to re install disk but when i turn on laptop it goes straight to the windows resume page which gives you 2 choices to hilight then press enter but...

Reinstalling the operating system won't solve your keyboard problem. If you have another good working keyboard, plug it on the laptop and try to see if the problem will disappear.
Usually, the laptop keys stop working because there's something stuck underneath and is preventing the key from going all the way down. It would be good to take a small brush or use a vacuum cleaner at a low suction setting and vacuum up the keyboard to get rid of anything that's stuck beneath the keys.
If the cleanup of the keyboard does not help and the external keyboard misbehaves in the same way as the laptop keyboard then it might just happen that a reinstall of the operating system might help.
You'll need to go to BIOS and set up the DVD drive as the primary boot option, so that when you place the DVD in, it boots from it, instead of booting from the hard drive.
Depending on your laptop model and BIOS version, you will need to hit F1, F2, F10 or F12 right after you turn on the laptop. Just pay attention to the first screen that shows up, and it usually says at the bottom what key you need to hit to get into the BIOS settings. Once you're in, there should be a section called Boot Options, or it may be in the Advanced Settings. Again, the menu shceme depends on the laptop brand and the BIOS version, so you'll just have to look through the available options.

Window resume loader

There is a known corruption problem with Windows Vista's resume operation, but I've not yet confronted it on a laptop. On a desktop the problem occurs when a USB keyboard is in use, and the resolution is to unplug it and make sure that you're using a standard PS/2 keyboard instead, but I am not sure if this will work on a notepad. It depends if the notepad scans for an external keypad at boot time. Try plugging in an external keyboard before you turn the power on and see if that works.

If it doesn't work, I'm not sure what to suggest. People who have had this problem appear to have tried everything from resetting the BIOS to reformatting the hard drive. If you try it and report failure I'll investigate the matter further.
