IT won't pick up the paper
Actually, if you live in a dry climate (like here in Colorado), or you have very old paper. The paper dries out and the printer can't pick it up. Try separating the paper into small stacks and placing them into your bathroom while you take a hot shower. Gather them back up and place them back into your paper tray....sounds crazy, but try it!
Better take it to the service if it's still under warranty. Like Argospete said, you can easily void warranty if you try to fix it yourself and brake something. If you're brave enough to do it yourself, better consult the user manual.

There is definitely a paper jam. It's up to you to find it. Sometimes it's a very small piece of paper. I have worked with these printers before. If it says paper jam, that means there is a paper jam. Look a little bit more closely. I garranty you 100% there is a paperjam.

Constant jam indication. This gear is more than likely the cause after exhausting all other avenues. Also nearly impossible to get to let alone replace even if HP offered the part. There is a black cover over the clutch assy that can be removed to reveal the gear. In most cases the gear is either sitting in the bottom of the machine or split down one side. This is the second machine that I have diagnosed with this problem in a very short time. If you have this broken gear, consider it toast. Matt / E-tech Copier and printer repair.
