The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Download cannon pictures

John
When you view the pictures you should have an option to choose or check off which photos you want to download.

Try opening your disc where the photos are from your File Manager on your computer.

Go to your lower left corner and right click your mouse on Start and open Windows Explorer.

then look at your drives of your computer on the left side of the screen
You should see C drive and search for the photos or open the folder with the photos and whichever drive you have your photo disc in.

When you click on this drive your computer may ask "would you like to view the photos with MS photo viewer or something similar.

View the photos first, they will open all at once. You should have a spot to click in and put a check mark to download ONLY those photos from the disc to the laptop.

Give that a try. Of course if it states "would you like to download all the pictures, click NO if available.

How do i rename pictures so that my computer won't think they are duplicates?

Rename the photos on the computer before you download the new photos.
OR
Create a new folder (say Photos1) in another area away from where the existing photos are located in your computer and move all the existing existing into the new Photo1 folder.
Then when you download the new photos from your camera then there will be no conflict or the need to rename the existing photos.
Later, you will need to create another folder and move the current photos into this folder before you download the next lot of photos from your camera.
