Question about GE JVM1660 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

GE JVM1660 1000 Watts Microwave Oven beeps every minute

This GE JVM1660 1000 Watts Microwave Oven seems to be working ok, but it beeps once every minute, kind of like the food it cooked is finished. However, the food had been removed long before, the door was closed, and yet it keeps beeping, but nothing special is in the display. Unplugging the power and turning it back on did not help. Resetting the date and time did not help. Hopefully one of you knows what is wrong and what we should do to stop this beeping. Thanks, Mike [email protected]

I posted this as an alternative to that, which obviously I can and will do.

Panasonic microwave keeps running after it beeps and stops cooking. The light is still on. I open it and close it and it still runs. I don't think it's cooking still.

My GE stainless steel 1100 watt microwave starts beeping out of the blue and the display panel shuts off and when I open the door it resets itself and then starts to beep when I close the door again.

Try removing the power cord for about a minute, push all the touch pad 'buttons' and then plug it back in. If this doesn't work it sounds like you may have a bad door interlock switch or a bad PCM .. Good luck !

The key pad is locked and it won't stop beeping. How do I unlock this????

Try unplugging it, waiting a few minutes, then plugging it back in again. This is easy to try and sometimes works with malfunctioning electronic devices. I've had good results using this technique with my GE microwave and Westinghouse LCD TV to name a few.

Everything seems to be working but does not heat

Check the related components with the magnetron like fuse , highvoltage diode etc. If they are all Ok replace the magnetron.

the switch is ok. if it was bad itt would blow the fuse. ge had magnetron problems on the 1600 series. if you have an amprobe and are getting 110 volts from the control to the transformer. place the probe around just 1 wire to the transformer. if you get less than 12 amps replace the mag

GE xl 1800 beep

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a minute, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

Let us know if the hard reset doesn't fix it.

JVM1490 IS BEEPING EVERY 4-5 MIN ONE BEEP

The manual states that it will beep once a minute after food cooks until you open the door or press stop. Other than that, it sounds like an error condition. But you might contact the GE Answer Center at 1-800-626-2005 Monday 6 a.m. ET through Saturday midnight ET. The owner's manual is available here: http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/
