Someone gave me this it really works i had tried everything thank GOd im so happy I have the EXACT same problem and my device is stuck in MSD. Which two files are you talking about? My sandisk support rep did not send me any attachment. Thank you for contacting SanDisk Technical Support. We should be able to fix your player. Disconnect the player from the computer if it is connected. Please copy and paste the following link into your web browser address bar, and then click Go or hit your Enter key. When prompted, choose the option to Save the file to your Desktop. http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exe Once you have downloaded the file, please follow these instructions. 1) Double click on My Computer so that you can see it on your screen. 2) Turn the player off. 3) On the top of the player is a Hold switch, move it to the right (toward the headphone jack) so you see Orange. 4) On the left hand side of the player is a Record button, press and hold it while connecting the player to the computer. Continue holding the Record button until you see a new icon under My Computer called 16MB FORMAT. Once you see that icon you may release the Record button. 5) Double click the file you downloaded earlier and run it. Follow all of the on-screen instructions, and when you get to the prompt where it asks you whether you would like to Format it, choose Yes. Once it is done, click Finish. 6) Disconnect the player and look at the screen. Several things will be displayed, and when you see Key Lock, System Shutdown, move the Hold switch on the top back to the left. 7) Turn the player on and watch the screen. If you see a Refresh Database Fail error, you will need to follow steps 1-7 again until you do not get the error. If it does not work the first time, it could take up to 3 times for it to work.

You have to turn on the MP3 player and go to settings. Then you go to USB mode at the bottom and you select MSD.

My recovery mode says "enter USB2.0 MSD mode" what do i do

Hi there.

I can understand your issue. When you say "enter USB2.0 MSD mode"getting into recovery mode. Then i'd say firmware needs to be updated..

Please follow the steps..

There are files in the player that might be corrupted causing the device to freeze and stop responding.

SOLUTION 1 - Reset the device.

1. Press and hold the Power/Menu button for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the Power/Menu button.
3. Press the Power/Menu button again to turn on the player.

NOTE: Resetting will turn the player off while it is frozen.

SOLUTION 2 - Force MSC or Recovery mode then update to the latest firmware.

STEP 1 - Force MSC or go to Recovery mode
For e200v1/e200R (Recovery mode only): Connecting in Recovery mode

1. On your Sansa player, press and hold the Power/Menu button for 15 seconds to turn the device completely off.
2. Slide the Hold switch so the orange portion shows.
3. On your PC, double-click My Computer
4. On your Sansa player, press and hold the REC button while connecting it to the PC.
5. Release the REC button when a 16MB-FORMAT drive partition appears under My Computer.

For e200v2 (Force MSC mode only): Enabling MSC mode

1. Turn device OFF.
2. Slide the hold switch to the direction of the headphone jack so an orange color would show putting the device on Hold.
3. Press and hold the ( |<< ) button while connecting the device to the PC.

STEP 2 - Update to the latest firmware manually, as it is described in Method 2 http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/306/kw/e200/r_id/101834.

My sansa e280 rhapsody says switch to recovery mode

Recovery mode is used to recover from a fatal error.

Follow these steps and youll be back in business.

Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted.

http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exe

You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool.

- Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds)
- Slide the hold switch into "hold" position.
- Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer.

Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.
