No picture for Canon SD100 Powershot

Hi, I've got a Canon SD100 Powershot camera that no longer shows focus in the viewer. I can view pictures I've already taken; however, when I want to take a picture, the viewer is a fuzzy purple color. It started to go periodically with the focus coming and going, but today it just died and all I get is the purple or a black screen. Could it be the battery? Any help would be appreciated.

Common fault with these models and is caused by faulty CCD sensor. Canon will probably repair free of charge so send it in . As I said very common with this model.
