TV remote will not work properly

My TV remote will turn the TV on and off but it will not perform any other funcions. I can not get to the device menu to connect to the DVD player. I have checked the DVD player and it works properly in other TV in the house and i have PIPed devices and it showes the picture for the DVD player but only on half of the screen. After several tries of the remote not responding, the TV will just turn off by itself. Please Help.

I have a Mitsubishi WD-52725 TV, too, and have experienced the same problems with it. My solution to the remote not responding is to push the reset button on the front of the TV (to the left of the Power button) with a paper clip and wait for the green light to stop blinking (about 1 minute). Then, turn it back on and try the remote again. Recently, my remote stopped responding when pushing certain buttons on it. I removed the batteries, and all of the little screws including the one inside the battery compartment and gently cleaned the contacts inside the remote and the circuit board with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. After putting it back together, it works fine now.

Tv light turns on but tv screen won't turn on

If the light on your TV turns on but the screen does not, there are several potential causes of this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Check the power supply: Make sure that the power cord is properly plugged in and that the outlet is functioning properly. You can test the outlet by plugging in another device to see if it works.
  2. Check the remote control: Make sure that the remote control is working and that you are using the correct input source for the TV. Try pressing the power button on the TV itself to see if that turns on the screen.
  3. Check the cables: Check that all cables are securely connected to the TV and input sources. Try unplugging and plugging them back in to ensure a tight connection.
  4. Reset the TV: Try resetting the TV to its factory settings. This can be done through the TV's menu settings.
  5. Check for firmware updates: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your TV model. Updating the firmware can sometimes fix issues with the TV.
  6. Professional repair: If none of the above steps work, it may be a more serious problem that requires professional repair. It is recommended to contact the manufacturer or a professional repair technician for assistance.
It is important to take caution when attempting to troubleshoot or repair a TV, as these devices can be dangerous if not handled properly. If you are not confident in your ability to perform repairs, it is best to seek the assistance of a professional.

How do I get the remote codes to make dish tv remote working?

Method 2 of 3: Scan for Code

  1. Use the remote to scan your device for the proper code. If the direct-entry method does not work, or your device is not listed in the back of the manual or online, you can try this procedure to find your device's code.
  2. Turn on your remote device. Use either the device's power-on button, or use its remote control to turn it on.
  3. Press and hold the mode button for the target device. Hold the button down for about 3 seconds, then release it. It should now be flashing.
  4. Press the remote's power button. Note: use the generic power button, not the TV power button.
  5. Press the Up or Down arrow button until the device turns off. You will have to do this repeatedly to scan through all codes.
    • Do not press the arrow buttons too quickly, or you might skip over the correct code.
    • The mode button for the device will flash rapidly 8 times when you have scanned all the codes for that device.
  6. Lock in the code. When your device successfully powers off, press the Pound sign (#) to store that code in the remote.
  7. Test the connection. Turn on the device with the power button, then test the other buttons such as Play, Fast Forward, etc. If those work too, you're set. If not, repeat the process again until you find a code that does.

Method 3 of 3: By Menu

  1. Turn on your TV. Make sure it's connected to your Dish Network, then press the MENU button.
    • The menu screen should show on your television screen:
    • Select Settings. Locate and select the Remote Control button.
      • The Remote Manager screen should display on your screen:
      • Select the device you want to learn. From the buttons on the right, select TV, DVD, or AUX.
      • Select the Lookup Code button:
      • Select the sort criteria and device brand. Then click the Next button:
        • Test the device at this point. If the remote works as expected, select the "Yes" button; otherwise, select "No" to try the next code in the list.
        • Repeat this process until a working code is found, or continue by selecting "Enter Model" to find the device code.
      • Enter your model number in the search field. You can enter all, or part of the number.
        • Select the device model number from the list, then select Next. Test the device. If it works, you're good to go! If not, and you've tried all the other methods, your device is not supported with the Dish Network remote.

Black rectangle at lower center of screen that blocks most of the tv. adjusting volume takes it away temporarily and then it reappears. don't know if we inadvertently turned on a funcion from the remote.

Take your remote, go into menu, scroll down to captions, right arrow to 1,2,3,off, when cursor is over off press enter on the remote, that should clear the black box and give normal tv viewing.

Nothing appears on my LCD TV display

1 Ensure the LCD TV display is turned on.
2 Verify that all the cables are properly connected to the LCD TV
display, including the power cable.
3 Check to see if there is a blue or amber light on the lower,
right-hand corner of the LCD TV display. A blue light indicates
the LCD TV display is on. An amber light means the LCD TV
display is in power save mode.
4 Ensure the proper source is selected in the Input Select menu.
See "Input Select Menu" on page 24 for more information.
5 Reconnect any devices that are currently connected to the LCD
TV display. If you are using multiple devices, connect and test
one device at a time.
6 Connect another device that you know is working properly.
7 Reset the original factory defaults. Press Menu on the remote
control, select Setup, and then select Factory Reset.

Problem Possible Solution No sound

1 Ensure mute is not turned on. Pressing the Mute button on
the remote control turns the mute function on and off.
2 If only certain LCD TV channels do not have sound, then you
need to correct the Input Select menu in the TV Menu (see
"Input Select Menu" on page 24).
3 Verify that the audio cables are firmly connected to both the
audio input connectors on your LCD TV display and audio
output connectors on your devices. Ensure that the cable colors
match the connectors colors.
4 Also, ensure that the audio cables are connected to the same
row as the video cables. See "About Your LCD TV Display" on
page 5 for the location of the connectors.
5 Reconnect the device using the same type of connector. For
example, if you are using the composite connector on the
bottom, try connecting the device to the composite connector
on the side of the LCD TV display. See "About Your LCD TV
Display" on page 5 for the location of the connectors.
After you connect the device, change the input source in the TV
Menu. See "Input Select Menu" on page 24 for more

if you are experiencing the problem using a composite
connector, try using the component connector.

appropriate cables for that connector. See your device
documentation for a list of supported connections.
After you connect the device, change the input source in the TV
Menu. See "Input Select Menu" on page 24 for more

TV Remote will not work

I was told that there is a short in the power supply, which needs to be built back up. The estimate for repair is $450. Is this reasonable? Thanks.
