Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator
I just bought a replacement "heater Harness Defrost Assembly" ( WR51X10031 ) some of the wires need to be connected behind the ice maker. How should should the ice maker be removed so I can get at the connection. Or is there another way to get at the connection that appears to be located behind the ice maker.
Defrost heater and thermostat is located behind inside back freezer panel. That panel has to be removed.

SOURCE: Freezer defrosts too long.
Outside of HVACRH20 excellent advice, here a few stats about this model. The main control board will monitor the resistance of the evaporator thermistor. This is located near the top of the evaporator. This thermistor determines when the unit goes into and out of defrost. The bi-metal is redundant to the operation. It will terminate the defrost only if the thermistor fails. Check the values of the thermistor with the attached chart. Catriver..post back

Jake, the green wire is the ground, just attach it to one of the screws the secure the cover plate. As far as you ordering both the heater and the board, you have it covered. Catriver.

Check to see if the defrost timer is working. It's the size of a cell phone, usually in the compressor area. It has about five wires going to it in a plug. It has a small dial on it that only goes one way. Mark the dial and wait a half hour to see if it moves.
