Question about Monarch 9855 Thermal Printer

1 Answer

Error 616 I keep getting error 616 when trying to print out labels. However 75% of the labels in the batch will print correctly. It almost seems like our software may be corrupt or the zip data files because If I add a new label with the zip of the labels that throw the 616 error it will still throw the error.

The software is not corrupt. The 606 is basically telling you that one of the dots that heat up to make the image on your paper isn't able to heat up correctly. Since the printer can typically shift these dots over from one side to the other to help compensate for these dots going bad, it is also saying that it can't shift either.

You're seeing this issue on a barcode, and instead of a barcode you're getting a gray box. If you're unable to make changes in your code that is going to the printer, that tells it what to print and where, your best bet is to purchase a new printhead form Avery.

Though the issue can be worked around, it is possible that now that you can print that barcodes you want, you may find that new ones won't be able to print because they're printing in that same space where the printer cannot shift dots to compensate for the bad one.

I know the printer, not the software that you're using. Bartender should be able to help you with their software, but it sounds like you have an invalid width set in the printer, even though you're setting the width to what you believe is correct.

The printer only displays what it believes is the error, and 005 is usually right on the money. Their software, though good, can be a bit persnickety, and if you want to try something a little different, try using the label designer utility that Avery, formerly Paxar, formerly Monarch, makes for that printer.

http://www.monarch.averydennison.com/support/servdocuments/Software/Quickset%20Utilities/Label_Designer/LDS1B-A.exe

This utility has a basic WYSISYG, and allows you to even save the files as MPCL, which is the printer's native language. You can then tweak the file by referencing their programmer's reference manual, found at monarch.averydennison.com, under support.

Trust me when I say, this isn't a printer issue. It's a datastream or software application issue.

When I print a label I have to press the feed button to get the label out. How do I get it to push out the entire label without me having to feed and reset the whole time?

Most people I know print addresses from a sheet of labels, which ejects at the end. It sounds like you are printing one address from a continuous roll of labels, and they are so close together that the printer cannot push it out for you without misaligning the next one. I think both systems are designed mainly to print a batch of labels at one time.
If you are printing a batch, it is best to prepare the whole set first and save it as 'data' for printing addresses. For a one off or just a few I would use a sheet of 24 labels (say) with 3 to a row, and 8 rows.
Does this help?

My printer is giving me this error message "Batch

That's a batch error, more than likely due to a communication issue between the pc and the printer. If you reboot the printer, THEN reboot the pc you should clear that error.
This error sometimes occurs when the printer has been shut down whil logged into your software, which disables communications between pc and printer. The error indicates that the printer didn't receive enough data to properly print the batch of labels/tags.

I have a Zebra Z4M printer. We use it to print on various labels - pre-printed and blank labels (semi-gloss). I've been struggling to print on one of the pre-printed labels. Everything else prints...

some labels are hard to calibrate, nee to calibrate the sensors with manual calibration.
1} go to the MEDIA AND RIBBON CALIBRATION,
2}take 2 or 3 labels from the base paber, load the way to the based paper stay unther the sensors, 3}close printhead.
4} press ok.
5} Move the ribbon out from sensors and close the printhead.
6) press ok
7) wen printer ask RELOAD ALL, load the labels correcly and the ribbon, close the printhead and the top door, and press ok. The printer run the calibration it self.
wen finish, saved (press setub twice) and test.

It has to be a bad batch or the wrong system.
Are you sure that the disks are labeled inkjet printable and not lightscribe?
Most printables are white in color and lightscribes are tannish.

Datamax I-4208 not printing allocated amount of labels

Eventually you HAVE to give the printer a break, during inventory times at work, we have to print 50K+ labels, and in order to prevent either serial number skipping or other issues, I print in 250 batches, yes; there is a time gap but it's better than to restart a series of prints because a few numbers were skipped. Try printing 200 and 200 sets to prevent errors or skips.

  1. Try just storing your labels in a cool dry place before using them. Peeling labels are usually a sign the glue is poor or weak.
  2. When tearing you labels off, feed them out before tearing them off, then hit the auto-align. See if that helps it.
  3. Try pushing a normal playing card under the metal cutter that tears the labels and pull it up and through the front to bend the blade slightly outward. This will hopefully allow the labels to pass underneath.

2 LABELS COME OUT

your label length is set incorrectly, there are 2 things it could be
1) your software is telling the printer the label length is longer then the current labels, even if the label size is out my a single millimeter the printer will give you this issue of feed an extra label. you need to change this in your software. you can set a label size smaller then the current label size and it will work correctly

2) you software is not setting a label length and so the printer is going off its internal setting, to recalibrate hold feed and power up the printer letting go after the light starts flashing

it is important to note that label roll will change slightly over time so even though you are ordering the same labels as a year ago the manufacturer will have slight changes from batch to batch
