I use warm water with a tiny bit of washing up liquid. I use a micro fibre cloth dip it in the water, wring out until vertually dry and clean the glass. Use a dry micro fibre cloth to dry. Do not use glass cleaner.

Cleaning your inside scanner glass

Actually it's a very simple procedure!

Read this entire comment first...then start your procedures!

Disconnect the power cord, disconnect the USB cable, remove the top cover cable from the base by unscrewing the two plastic knobs, lift the top cover straight up. Place the top cover in a safe place.

On a clean, flat surface, turn the base upside down. On both ends you will find a total of four (4) black phillips head screws. Carefully unscrew these four screws and place aside. Carefully lift up the base and the top glass will separate from the base. Set the base aside. You have now exposed the inside glass for cleaning! It's that simple!!! Clean the glass by using a streak-free glass cleaner. Don't spray the glass, rather, lightly spray a clean soft lint free glass cleaning cloth, then wipe the glass. Don't press hard! Use good common sense1 There, you've now cleaned the interior glass. Reverse the procedure and you are finished. Wasn't that simple??

Steps how to clean scanner glass

1. Unplug the power cord.
2. Clean the outer case with a cloth dampened with a mild detergent and water.
3. If the document table glass gets dirty, clean it with a soft dry cloth. If the glass is stained with grease or some other hard-to-remove material, use a small amount of glass cleaner and a soft cloth to remove it. Wipe off all remaining liquid.
4. Ensure that there is no dust on the glass of the document table. Dust can cause white spots in your scanned images.

*** CAUTION: Do not press on the document table glass too hard.

5. Be careful not to scratch or damage the document table glass, and do not use a hard or abrasive brush to clean it. A damaged glass surface can decrease the scanning quality.
6. Never use alcohol, paint thinner or corrosive solvent to clean the scanner. These chemicals can damage the scanner components as well as the case.
7. Be careful not to spill liquid into the scanner mechanism or electronic components. This could permanently damage the mechanism and circuitry.
8. Do not spray lubricants inside the scanner.
9. Never open the scanner case.

***NOTE: Wipe the inside of the document cover and the scanner's document table before scanning transparencies.

How to clean the underside of the glass in a HP scanjet 2400

Hi ,
You probably already found this :
http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/performMaintDisplay/?sp4ts.oid=297429&spf_p.tpst=psiContentDisplay&spf_p.prp_psiContentDisplay=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c01275864-2%257CdocLocale%253Den_US&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken
According to it , you should normaly contact a HP technician to have the job done . Nevertheless , I succeeded to clean the underside of the glass inside a HP Scanjet 5470C wich seems similar to your model 2400 . If you take of the lid of the unit , you should find two screws in the opening of the hinges . Unscrew them and lift up the the whole top of the unit . You might encounter somme kind of resistance during the operation but I finally succeeded to get the it free that way .
Best regards .

Sharp IR 2016 platine glass dirty

The cover plate is above the glass white surface of the scanner. If this is the same dirty stains will come out on copies.
The glass must be clean.
By feeding the original documents through the ADF, the scanner lamp is no longer the path to scan, the ADF is responsible for passing the original document over the scanner, while it remains still placed on the side under a thin glass is to a large glass side. This also must be clean, otherwise you will be black lines on each point or spot on the glass.
Good luck ...

When try to scan, lamp warms up then message received is scanner could not scan. 22 is NOT blinking. The scanning mechanism begins move across the page but only moves about half inch.

The scanner may have one of two problems:

1. Scanner lamp has failed or does not come up to full color temp

2. Scanner attempts to initialize, which means it must move a bit to what is the "home" position where the scanner actually reads a very small coded imprint on the underside of the glass. If this area is too dusty or dirty, that will cause this problem, but also if the scanner motor and worm drive are binding for any reason, such as the scan rails internally being too dry this will also happen.

Locate a service manual and remove the copy glass by removing the lock guide on one side, the glass should lift partially, allowing some gentle cleaning with soft cloth and glass cleaner. Do not attempt to force the scanner to move inside, as it is worm gear driven and such an attempt will strip the nylon gears or worse.

Follow the manual instructions if you need to fully remove the top
cover, glass and platen assembly for cleaning. It is very simple once you are in the interior...but gentleness and care are necessary.

Sadly, parts are difficult to find for all scanners now, and it is often far more economical to replace with a new, low cost and higher performing, higher rez unit for $ 120 or less. Often a lot less.

Good Luck!

Streaks on prints

Lines/streaks at the same location indicate either a speck of dust stuck on the glass or the glass may be scratched.

HP 7410 Scanner mirror dirty

you can go tru this extract ON HOW TO FIX IT
clean the glass
Dirty glass, from fingerprints, smudges, hair, and so on, slows down
performance and affects the accuracy of special features such as Fit to Page and
Copy.
1 Turn off the unit, unplug the power cord, and raise the lid.
2 Clean the glass with a soft cloth or sponge slightly moistened with a
nonabrasive glass cleaner.
Caution! Do not use abrasives, acetone, benzene, or carbon
tetrachloride on the glass; these can damage it. Do not place
liquids directly on the glass. They may seep under it and damage
the unit.
3 Dry the glass with a chamois or cellulose sponge to prevent spotting.
clean the lid backing
Minor debris can accumulate on the white document-backing located
underneath the unit’s lid.
1 Turn off the unit, unplug the power cord, and raise the lid.
2 Clean the white document-backing with a soft cloth or sponge slightly
moistened with a mild soap and warm water.
3 Wash the backing gently to loosen debris; do not scrub the backing.
4 Dry the backing with a chamois or soft cloth.
Caution! Do not use paper-based wipes as these may scratch the
backing.
5 If this does not clean the backing well enough, repeat the previous steps
using isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, and wipe the backing thoroughly with a
damp cloth to remove any residual alcohol.
clean the exterior
Use a soft, damp, lint-free cloth to wipe dust, smudges, and stains off the case.
The interior of the unit does not require cleaning. Keep fluids away from the
interior of the unit as well as the front panel.

Cleaning scanner glass

This solution is for the HP 3310 all-in-one.
How to clean under the glass.
1. Find the small wire that runs from the lid to a jack on the back and disconnect it, un-clip the wire from the holders and let it hang free.
2. Lift the lid and pull it straight up about 3/4 of an inch, you will see two indents in the hinge, push these one at a time to release the lid. Remove it completely.
3. 3 screws are located under the hinge, remove them as well as the two in the front.
4. In the back, gently pull on the silver end pieces to release the top from the unit.
5. You can now turn it over to clean the glass.
6. to reinstall reverse the steps and remember to plug the jack back in.
That's it, easy when you know how. Pay HP service nothing!
