I hope you backed up your system before installing it. I don't think that there is any easy way to go back to IE8 once 9 is installed. To make sure, go to the Microsoft website and check the forums. Somebody may have figured out how to revert back to IE8. You may need to reinstall the system, or just wait for the final version is released. In the meantime, you can try one of the other major browsers so that you can at least get back to normal surfing. Stay away from the beta versions, though.
Mozilla Firefox will get you to all the same sites as IE8. You can import (make a copy) of your IE8 Favourites/bookmarks into Firefox. In Firefox select FILE>IMPORT and follow the instructions.
To fix IE8 try the steps at this Microsoft page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926449
this problem can occur if the ie8 is not kept up to date. install the newest security updates for ie8 from the site update.microsoft.com if this doesnot solve the problem it will be better to reinstall ie8 and then try the update. or else it will be more safer and secure to use mozilla firefox. in all the above cases the important thing is stay up to date.
Sounds to me like what is known as a homepage hijack virus. I would uninstall Explorer, and reinstall the appropriate version of it. It also may not be a virus, it may be that IE8 was installed through windows update automatically, and perhaps POGO does play nice with IE8 yet. Please remember that IE8 is in BETA, which means it is being tested on the public,, but is not yet complete.
