Black screen Whenever I turn my camera on the screen just shows up black and if you take a photo when you go to look at it it just shows up as a black photo. When I look at the lens theres a white line showing that wasnt there before so something may have gone out of alignment

This appears close to the problem we have. The little red power lamp comes on, but the camera appears not to come on and operate. The camera operated for abut 6 months after 2006 Christmas. Now I need a direction on finding either a local or distant shop for repair. I don't know if this is exactly the same as the individual with the black screen situation.

I had the same problem but the advice given was very helpful. In true British style I decided that if it is stuck then I should unstick it, to which I gave it a sharp tap with the palm of my hand and the mechanism freed. All seems well.

It sounds like the shutter mechanism in your lens has stuck closed. This mechanism blocks out the light when you push the button to take a picture, allowing the image sensor to record what it saw just at that moment. If the shutter sticks closed then the image is always dark. You can see the shutter when it is closed from the outside, this is probably what you see when looking into your lens. Fixing this problem generally requires complete disassembly of the camera body and lens to reset the malfunctioning elements. Check with your manufacturer for recalls or technical bulletins, and see if they will fix it under your warranty. If this does not work out you can find good service providers online who can work on your camera. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

Have a Canon 5d mark 2 . Was using it today all worked ok. Then it suddenly wouldn't review photos or bring up the menu . It shows black screen but when turned off it says the normal sensor cleaning

Hi Dear!
According to your problem note said wouldn't review photo or bring up the menu. You have to check all taken picture if there is blank, black, or corrupted picture file(cause won't able to see the image) are come from mirror box sequence control unit failing. At the beginning of this problem can not be noticeable, later it causes more and more blank image come out. However, if you don't have any blank image, then a loosen screw piece running around and touch circuitry in side could be serious. These two symptom are common and manufacturer's engineer design defect, but they won't tell you. Other then that you have no problem on your camera like last statement "when turned off it says sensor cleaning" This is camera's default setting that whenever you turn off camera will clean off sensor by itself.
Hope You Luck! A Professional Camera Clinic Guy!

Sometime there is defective main picture control process! But Canon won't say about it! At least you can try to convince them. (I want you shoot continuous a lot and video shooting) If it happen, then your main process board defect!

Turning on the camera.

You can try to remove the battery to allow the circuitry to reset to factory defaults. If that do not work, I would suggest to get repair under manufacturers warranty. Most electronics devices have one year warranty.
Good Luck.

Shutter Priority Problem - photo is just a white image

sounds like an iso issue. its a pain but try to write down all your current settings then try resetting in the menu. and try applying all your previous recent settings one by one in shutter priority mode and take a pic before applying each one to see what tips the camera to react the way it has, long process but not sure its a camera issue more just a setting

Will not show photo

Did you accidentally press the DISP button on the back of your camera (the bottom button). This manually turns the screen on and off to save batteries. Try pressing it once more to see if that corrects the problem.

Black Screen

I have the exact problem. I came on slowly, some days it would work, some days it wouldnt. Finally i couldnt get it working at all. Sent it back to Kodak as it was still under warranty, the repair center claims it was "physical damage". They admit that the camera shows no evidence of falling or banging but it doesnt matter. The camera was lightly used only by my wife, she took good care of it. I'm currently fighting with Kodak, they are requesting photos from the repair center, so they claim. I think its lost cause, but we'll see.
