Till recently my dvd burner was working great and burning great but couple weeks ago my burner start burning dvd's (on my pc) that they look like longplay when I take a closer look at them. Burning process is always succeful and I used dvdfab and nero for this but with both I experience same problem, I flashed my drive right after I bought it so it is like a year or so, so I have latest firware on it, I already formatted my hard disk 3 time and reinstalled Windows and all components from scratch, updated all drivers on my pc and updated drivers for my PCI card on which I have 2.0 USB ports because I have 4 years old Sony laptop so I wanted to take advantage of faster burning. Whatever I do it is always same thing and I can't burn on it altough I can use it to read cd and dvd's, and funny thing is that when I hook it up to tv or my Tivo and tried to burn something of tv I get perfect copy and it doesn't have any problem with burning and I can play that disc in dvd player or on my laptop. I am thinking that I have some kind of software problem on my pc or some problem with drivers so if you have any idea what I can do and is there any kind of analysing program that I can check what is the problem and what is causing this I would really appreciate if you could help me.

The drive I had trouble with back when I posted in July finally died a
couple of weeks ago. CD's worked fine, just like you. All my good
settings with Auto Run, etc, were still there. So I bought a new drive
and I'm back in business.
Sounds like you need to replace the burner, or the wiring is burned. Have you checked the connection between the burner and the oven? They should be clean and fit tight, no burn marks. Burn marks mean loose connection.
in device manager... remove ide controllers.. all of them. reboot an it reinstalls automatic then retry.. also make sure burner is master on ide and reader is slave... if not try burner by itself as master and see what happens. there was a bug of xp and intel sata sometimes writing then it was blank.. slaved burner on secondary when sata present or something to that point.
