This a common problem with Indesit washers..
It is not a timer but a programme selector switch.
What you need to do is the following.
Switch the m/c on, let the drain pump empty the water, then switch the m/c off.
set the selector switch to one of the black dots on the dial, which is stop/reset.
Then switch washer back on, if the dial still keeps going round and round, then you are going to have to call an engineer, as you have what is called an Anomaly (fault).
Plz leave feedback for this solution.
Thanks

Indesit w123. motor burnt out?

If your seeing flashes from behind the dial I'm thinking that the timer needs to be changed. Even with the motor shorted out, it still wouldn't cause that effect to happen.

Program a timer

You posted under Paragon 2606 Panel-mount countdown timer.
If this is not your timer, add a comment.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html

2600 series is mechanical interval timer.
26006-00 can handle 10 amp loads.

Interval timer is a countdown timer that keeps Load turned on for set amount of time.
You set the time by rotating dial

To start timer, Rotate dial from 1 minute to 30 minute.
Rotating dial turns on Load and begins countdown.
Timer turns OFF Load after set amount of time expires.

Indesit WDG1095W combined washer/dryer - program wheel stopped

I'm a bit confused you posted under Bosch but you specify Indesit, which is a UK machine. The really bad news is you need to replace the timer. the really really bad news is you can only buy the timers from Indesit, I can't find them anywhere in the US. The really really really bad news is they want 117.99 british pounds for them! plus shipping and handling. Here is a link to the Indesit site where you can purchase one.

W123 holding some water and dial keeps spinning around checked the filter all clear

may be a blockage in the sump hose or pump feed hose or the pump itself may be faulty. the dial will click round to tell you there is a fault. to reset turn the dial onto every DOT and turn on for 10 secs then off and onto the next dot it will flash for a couple of seconds to confirm.

Indesit W123 s UK water overflows from the detergent draw

My machine clicked round, although I did not have the water overflow. I managed to unlock the pump filter, on the front of the machine under the lower panel. This was fiddly. I removed a coin. The machine worked again, but two cycles later starting clicking round the timer. I called an engineer - it worked when he was here, he checked the element and pump and said it was OK. When he had gone, it clicked round the timer again! He came again, and once again it worked perfectly when he was here. Eventually I checked the pump filter again, and removed another two coins. At the moment - it is working!
