I have a Sharp R1481. Everything operates normally except the oven does not come on. The following do operate: lights, timer, clock, and hood exhaust system. This oven was experiencing problems intermittently until now. If the door was pushed in or "wiggled" the oven would operate. I checked the door switches and found one switch to be slightly melted. I have replaced all three door switches. However, the oven is still inoperative. Any suggestions are appreciated.
When you enter the time then hit START, does the turntable motor come on? If not, then I would suspect the secondary interlock switch, its mount, or its wiring. If so, then it's hard to say, unless there was some miswiring somewhere. The original problem sounded like just a classic bad door switch. At this point I suspect the wires on one of them may not have been reconnected exactly where they were. It does matter. I would suspect the secondary interlock switch, which MAY have white/white and grey/grey wires attached. Also, one of the switch mounts may have a broken tab that makes the switch move so it's not getting activated. At our site, we have the service manual for the R1830, which is similar to the R1480-series. We have that plus *critical* safety and disassembly info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

I want to thank MicrowaveSvc for the solution to my problem. The wiring diagram was exactly what I needed because I did miswire the interlock switch, oops! I appreciated the help.
I have replaced the secondary interlock switch on our Sharp convection microwave three times in seven years. The switches are poor quality and develop an overtravel condition in which they pass thru connect to disconnect which prevents the oven from turning and heating. The replacements are probably from the same lots as the original and don't last. One fix is to build up next to the switch button with layers of tape to limit the button travel and keep it in the connect position. The problem is finding a good quality replacement. So far no luck including Repair Clinic where I got the last two. Otherwise the Sharp has been excellent.
Timer runs but the oven only runs when you put a little pressure on the door button.
